Thanks @sivaraam ! However I don't think we should merge this for now, as I plan to send a patch to move this over into Git's source tree itself really soon, even though I need to finish the draft of Git Rev News edition first. |
Sure, Christian. I opened this mostly to get thoughts 🙂 Do feel free to let me know if you need help with the patch of the ideas list. I could help with the same. While not strictly necessary, I believe it might be better to get the microprojects list also ready before we apply for GSoC. So, we should get it done (hopefully merged?) by Feb 5 or so, to ensure we could apply for GSoC after that. |
@chriscool It seems Junio has second thoughts about the projects file that's kept in tree. Could we for the time being merge this MR in so that we could proceed with the GSoC application soon (we only have until Friday, Feb 7) ? I suggest getting the microproject idea page corrected as we don't want to redirect contributors to stale doc. We could very well iterate side-by-side and tweak as necessary but I wish to have things up-to-date while applying. |

Sure, merged. |
Thanks! |
By the way I thought we had until Feb 11. The email title from Lucila Ortiz Aguilar was: "[GSoC Mentors] Mentoring Org Applications now open til Feb 11 at 1800 UTC" |
I plan to send a patch to the mailing list really soon now about a new project file that will have the microprojects. But yeah not sure that it will be merged soon enough. |
Indeed, Christian. Thank you for correcting me. I seem to have got that wrong! Yet, I think we could now proceed with the application as we've got everything settled. 🙂 |
Yeah, sure. Let me know if you want me to proceed with the application or if you want to do it. |
I've just applied, Christian. Thank you for asking! |

I've tried to incorporate the

microproject idea and tweaked one of the existing idea to make it more beginner friendly. Do checkout and let me know your thoughts.Patrick does suggest to move this over into Git's source tree itself. I'll get on to the same once I get an idea on what ideas we plan on keeping and removing. If it does look good, I could try to imitate the same for our other ideas.
