Pure nonsense by that random PoV pusher that hopped in. Iran is an integral part of West Asia/Middle East geographically, historically, and culturally, and is acknowledged as such by all organisations. The UNSD department of the UN includes it in South Asia purely for statistical purposes and this is only employed by themselves, not by any other UN department (such as FAO, UNICEF, UNESCAP, etc [1][2]) The UN cartographic centre puts it in West Asia,[3] and so does the CIA worldfactbook, an authority on country groupings and use on most English Wiki pages regarding country economics, ethnicities, etc.[4].

It's as if putting Italy into northern africa because some department of an 100-departments large international organisation uses it in their north africa region for certain statistical purposes...It's a joke even discussing it, as it's totally ungrounded in all possible ways. - LouisAragon (keskustelu) 4. toukokuuta 2015 kello 03.10 (EEST)
