• روایت: فعلا با مرور اندرو جرج در سخنرانی موزه هاروارد ۲۰۱۶ انجام شد. (بخشهایی از مرور به درد «تحلیل» می‌خورند. فعلا پاراگراف آخر تحلیل در «انکیدو و گیلگمش» از این سخنرانی است. برای اوتنپیشتی هم میتوان به کار برد.)
• تحلیل: ترجمه میسن گرچه وفادار به متن است اما چنان چیدمانی دارد که همان متنش هم خودش تحلیل است. منبع اصلی بخش تحلیل روایت میسن است که فعلا متن بخش «انکیدو و گیلگمش» (به جز پاراگراف آخرش که از سخنرانی جرج است) و متن «انکیدو و شمهات» از آن است.

• نامی از «شمهات» نیامده. / گیلگمش آنقدر داستان‌های عجیب شنیده که گرچه روسپی را می‌فرستد اما یادش می‌‌رود ماجرا چه بوده.
  • تعریف خوابهای گیلگمش برای نینسون: یک: افتادن ستاره، دو: خواب تبر
    • نقش روسپی در انسان شدن انکیدو (لب چشمه و پس از آن تا رسیدن به شهر)
      • نقش سکس در ابتدای حماسه (گیلگمش سیری‌ناپذیر و انسان شدن)

  • ... stituted for that of Dumuzid. Almost certainly they were performed in the context of certain religious rituals which have been referred to as the ‘sacred marriage’, but the precise details are unknown. The belief that the king could in some sense actually have sexual intercourse with the goddess is intimately connected to the belief in the divinity of the kings of this period. There is evidence of a similar belief in elaborate songs composed for I$me-Dagan, king of Isin (see [nana and Isme-Dagan). These kings received divine honours in the cult, and their names were written with the same symbol to indicate divine status as those of the gods. / This song may surprise us by its intimate tone and sexually explicit words, but it is typical of Mesopotamian love poetry of this period. The sticky sweetness of honey is used as a vivid metaphor for Inana’s sexual arousal.
