From older îmbla, from Vulgar Latin *amblāre, syncopated form of Latin ambulāre, present active infinitive of ambulō; compare Aromanian imnu, imnari, Megleno-Romanian amnu, amnare, Istro-Romanian omnu, Old Italian ambiare, Occitan amblar.
