[edit]Cognate with Latvian skriet (“to go, run, fly”), seemingly from a Proto-Indo-European *(s)krey- (“to turn”), and related to Proto-Slavic *krīdlò (“wing”),[1] as well as Proto-Balto-Slavic *kréiwas (“crooked”); see the latter for more.[2]
