[edit]Etymology unclear, might be derived from dialectal cásati (“jerk”) or possibly from česati (“comb”), or from Proto-Slavic *otъ-jasъ, i.e. “something which hangs from the belt”. Possibly influenced by folk etymology.[1][2]
