[edit]With a change in conjugation, from Latin nārrāre, present infinitive of nārrō (“I narrate; I tell”), from earlier *nārō, from Proto-Italic *gnārāō (“I make known, I tell”), from Proto-Indo-European *ǵn̥h₃ro-, derived from the root *ǵneh₃- (“to know”).
