Either Sanskrit मध्यम (madhyamá, middlemost) +‎ -eeró or Sanskrit मध्यतर (madhyatara, more middle), both ultimately from मध्य (madhya, middle). By surface analysis, méeǰi (middle) +‎ -eeró.
