From Latin īnfīnītus (boundless, unlimited, endless, infinite), from in- + fīnītus (finished, terminated, having been finished or terminated; limited, bounded, having been limited or bounded; finite), perfect passive participle of fīniō (to finish; to limit; to appoint).
