[edit]- From Malay gerha (“wife, queen consort”), from Sanskrit गृह (gṛha, “house, family, wife, assistant”). Doublet of graha, garwa, greha, and griya.
- For sense of house/building, learned borrowing from Old Javanese gerha, greha, from the same Sanskrit word.
