Etymology

[edit]

Borrowed through Vulgar Latin from Latin fossa (ditch, moat).[1] However, Çabej identifies it as an inherited word from Proto-Albanian *pl̥thu̯iām.[2][3] Matasevic claims it has no known etymology.[4]

fushë f (plural fusha, definite fusha, definite plural fushat)

  1. (geography) field
  2. (geography) plain, flatland
