Etymology

Inherited from Chagatai ارسلان (ʾarslān /⁠ʾarslān⁠/), from Proto-Turkic *arsïlan. Cognate with Uyghur ئارسلان / arslan / арслан. Compare also Kazakh ارىستان / арыстан (arystan), Kyrgyz ارستان / арстан (arstan); Turkish aslan and arslan, etc.
