Last part -lig (“-le, -ly”) from Old Norse -ligr (“-y, -ly, -like”), from Proto-Germanic *-līkaz (“-like, -ly”), from *līką (“body; corpse, dead body”), from Proto-Indo-European *leyg- (“similar, like; image, likeness”).
