[edit]

1 - Even "siyah " "kara" both means black, only 2nd is used for sense 1 2 - karalatmak is the reflexive, therefore karalamak is right for the sense 1st Flāvidus (talk) 00:10, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

I once heard someone say that the word 'denigrate' has a racist origin (referring to people of colour in a derogatory sense). Is this so? Can someone provide proof? 2604:3D09:647E:CA00:5C95:6E0F:FAF2:1E97 20:05, 14 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Usage note

[edit]

In its best-established sense denigrate means "attack a reputation." However, it is now often found to mean "disparage or belittle." In this, it is following in the footsteps of deprecate in "self-deprecating". JMGN (talk) 06:48, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
