The vocalism of Celtic and Armenian do not match, the first requiring *h₂eǵʰ-, the second *h₁eǵʰ-. Therefore it is often assumed that one of them is unrelated. Alternatively, if the reconstruction is *h₁eǵʰ-, Celtic can reflect *h₁ǵʰ-, with vocalization of the laryngeal as *a.
