[edit]Borrowed from Slovene Kranj, from Proto-Slavic *Korňь, borrowed from Latin Carnium, from Carnī, the name of a Celtic tribe, probably from Proto-Celtic *karnos (“cairn”), from Proto-Indo-European *ḱr̥h₂-nó-s (“head, top; horn”).[1]
