[edit]Borrowed from Aramaic *רְעִיפְתׇּא (rəʿīp̄tā) (attested: רִיפְתָּא (rīp̄tā)) / ܪܥܝܼܦܬܵܐ (rəʿīp̄tā), diminutive of ܪܲܥܦܵܐ (raʿpā, “loaf of bread”).
