[edit]From Middle Persian bl(ʾ)hnk' (brahnag),[1][2] from Proto-Iranian *bagnákah, with secondary -r-, from Proto-Iranian *bagná (“naked”),[3] from Proto-Indo-Iranian *nagnás, from Proto-Indo-European *negʷ- (“naked”); see there for further information.
