[edit]- յաւրայ (yawray)
Etymology
[edit]The original spelling is յաւրայ (yawray). Related to հայր (hayr) and descended from some derivative of Proto-Indo-European *ph₂tḗr and cognate with Sanskrit पितृव्या (pitṛvyā, “father’s brother, paternal uncle”), Ancient Greek πάτρως (pátrōs, “male relative, especially father’s brother”), Latin patruus. It has been pointed out that an exact morphological analysis is extremely difficult.
Noun
[edit]յօրայ • (yōray)
Usage notes
[edit]Replaced later by հօրու (hōru).
