[edit]Inherited from Old Church Slavonic кѫща (kǫšta), from Proto-Slavic *kǫťa, either an Iranian borrowing or if native, possibly related to English hut. Compare further Bulgarian къ́там (kǎ́tam, “to conceal, to tuck away”).
