Template:Editnotices/Group/doc

From Wikisource

Usage

[edit]

The purpose of this template is to display text above the edit box for subpages to doc. Wikisource is using this primarily to allow for the Wikipedia:Preload of a customised and adapted form of Template:Header that is specific to the work. It is possible for this form to carry other editing instruction if desired, though noting that Wikisource already has namespace specific editnotices in place.

The basic configuration is to allow for a preloaded template, and if changes are made to the applied template, it will be that preloaded template that will need to be edited, not the editnotice page.

Example

[edit]

Example given is for Template:A catalogue of notable Middle Templars, with brief biographical notices and its subpage preload. Changes between the pages are a modification to the ID, and to the page of the called template.

{{editnotice
| id = main-CNMT-editnotice
| text = {{#ifexist:{{FULLPAGENAME}}||*[{{fullurl:{{FULLPAGENAMEE}}|action=edit&preload={{FULLPAGENAMEE:Template:A catalogue of notable Middle Templars, with brief biographical notices/preload}}}} Click to preload this page with a CNMT template]}}
}}

It is coded to display the preload suggestion if the subpage is new. It will not display the option when the page has already been created.

Editing

[edit]

The documentation and the templates function within the Mediawiki: namespace so the editing and documentation is currently restricted to administrators via an entry in Mediawiki:Titleblacklist. Requests for edits to the templates or documentation or for the creation of further group templates should be made to Wikisource:Administrators' noticeboard.

Deletion

[edit]
Note to administrators

When a work is complete, that is all the subpages are created, then the need for the preload capability is typically no longer needed, and deletion can be undertaken.
