Ellsworth Kelly who passed away on December 27, 2015 was an enormously influential figure internationally; and his work needs to be seen visually. 20th-century Western_painting#Geometric abstraction, Op Art, Hard-Edge, Color field, Minimal Art, New Realism and History of painting#New abstraction from the 1950s through the 1980s violate WP:NFC#UUI §6 as there is a separate article, Generative art, to which it is possible to link. The file additionally violates WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFG in the two articles as there is no sourced critical discussion about the painting in those two articles. It is reasonable to have one or two examples of the art style in Generative art, but the article currently seems to contain too many artworks, so some of them should probably be removed from the article per WP:NFCC#3a. It is reasonable to have one or two examples in the article Ellsworth Kelly, so the image can probably stay in the article, unless someone prefers to illustrate the article with a different painting instead. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:23, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

According to a template on the file information page, this file violates WP:NFCC#8. This seems to be a correct assessment on the file information page, so the file should be deleted. I'm wondering why we have a {{non-free Scout logo nocontent}} template, though; files which violate WP:NFCC#8 should simply be nominated for deletion. Remove from Scouting and Guiding in Kosovo per WP:NFG and WP:NFCC#8. Logo itself is not the subject of any sourced commentary within the article and the current usage in a gallery is purely decorative. It needs to be incorporated into the text and the subject of critical commentary for it to meet the contextual significance criterion. I think these files might not be eligible for copyright, given their age (over 100 years old). I also wonder if the first one is not eligible for copyright in their country of origin due to not being unique enough since it is a written image that is not unique enough. However, even with that, if these truly are non-free, they both probably fail WP:NFCC#1 as replaceable with a free alternative (applies to both). It is very unlikely that this cover can be considered to be original and copyrightable under the US standard. Font is un copyrightable, it being superimposed on to colored stripes is also uncopyrightable. The only possibly valid argument is that the shadows and the shade are copyrightable, but based on US cases it is very unlikely that those would be considered as original in this context (context of simple font and stripes background).Rybkovich (talk) 01:40, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
