Ron Kruz

Ron Kurz (1940- ) is a novelist and screenwriter. He is a native of Baltimore. His novels include Lethal Gas (1974)and Black Rococo (1975). Lethal Gas is look at the prison system that is both harrowing and comic. Kurz had worked in Correctional Facilities in Maryland prior to writing Lethal Gas. In Black Rococo, a riot breaks out in a titular theater after the proposed screening of a blaxploitation film goes awry. Black Rococo also looks at the life of one of the theater's employees, Praeger, a veteran and former social worker. Kurz' novels seem interested in the motives of and anxieties felt by American men in the wake of the 1960s and Vietnam. His novels also show an interest in aspects of African-American culture--specifically the black power movement in Lethal Gas and the blaxploitation film wave in Black Rococo.

Kurz wrote the screenplay for King Frat (1979), which a select few hold in high regard as an alternative to Animal House. Kurz was also involved in the first few Friday the 13th films. He is credited for Parts 2 and 3, uncredited for Part 1. He has contributed to other screenplays.

A Mc Mansion is a house seen in western sydney, the house is large and uses up all the land. They dont have gardens and are about, the house it's slef is small but they make people think that they are good by having large car ports. They all look the same and are built in houseing estates not suburbs. The people who own them are taxi drivers or telemarketers. The McMansion trend began in the late 1980s in the US, where there's also a trend to herding together in partially self-governing gated communities, dubbed privatopias. Moving into McMansion Land is not as cheap as it used to be, especially in NSW. Established Kellyville houses sell at auction for $750,000 to $800,000, and in Castle Hill, more than $1 million is common.

Far Away

Far Away is a contemporary play that, while just under an hour in length, defies easy description. It tells the tale of a world where the atrocities of war intertwine with everyday life – a world that is a little too close to ours for comfort. The play was first performed at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs in London, England on November 24, 2000, and premiered in the United States at the New York Theatre Workshop in November of 2002. The Canadian premiere, held on March 24, 2006 in Calgary, marked the first live production held at the legendary GRAND Theatre in over 50 years.

Playwright Caryl Churchill’s previous works include Top Girls and Cloud Nine, and is the winner of numerous awards including a Lawrence Olivier/BBC Award and three Obies. In Far Away, Ms. Churchill employs her trademark mix of theatrical shocks, black humor, and raw narrative power.

QVT

QVT is the new standard for model transformation defined by OMG in the context of the MDA approach.

Model transformation is a critical component of MDA. Recognizing this, an RFP has been issued on MOF Query/Views/Transformations to seek a standard compatible with the MDA recommendation suite (UML, MOF, OCL, etc.). Several replies were given by a number of companies and research institutions that evolved during three years to produce a common proposal that was submitted and approved. Presently there are several products (commercial or open source) that claim compliance to the QVT standard. QVT defines a standard way to transform source models into target models. There are several ideas in this proposal. One is that the source and target models may conform to arbitrary MOF metamodels. Another one is that the transformation program is considered itself as a model, and as a consequence also conforms to a MOF metamodel. This means more precisely that the abstract syntax of QVT should conform to a MOF 2.0 metamodel. As a matter of fact, this is a bit more complex. First the QVT language integrates the OCL 2.0 standard. Second QVT defines not one but three languages (domain specific languages) named Relations, Core and Operational Mappings and these languages are organized in a layered architecture. Relations and Core are declarative languages at two different levels of abstraction, with a normative mapping between them. The QVT/Relations language has a graphical concrete syntax. The QVT/OperationalMapping language is an imperative language that extends both QVT/Relations and QVT/Core. The syntax of the QVT/OperationalMappings language provides constructs commonly found in imperative languages (loops, conditions, etc.). Finally a mechanism called QVT/BlackBox for invoking transformation facilities expressed in other languages (XSLT, XQuery) is also an important part of the specification. For the time being the QVT standard only addresses model to model transformations, model meaning some entity conforming to any MOF 2.0 metamodel (and consequently XMI-serializable). All transformations of type "model to text" or "text to model" whatever the "text" is (XML, Code, SQL, etc.) are presently outside the scope of QVT and possibly subject to other standardization initiatives.

Lake Underwood

Lake Underwood (1927 — ) is an American businessman who invented automobile improvements, especially in electronics. He also raced automobiles and motorcycles.

Biography

After serving as an aviator in World War Two, Lake Underwood opened an automobile dealership in Maplewood, New Jersey where he dealt with Max Hoffman, a direct importer of Jaguar, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Volkswagen, and Fiat. He raced motorcycles and attained world championship for several years before beginning to compete in automobile racing.

Racing history

Lake Underwood began racing in a vehicle powered by a 356 engine loaned to him by a friend, the inventor Ben Shershaw, who owned a 1952 Porsche Super. Disk brakes, not used on American vehicles at the time, were adapted for the vehicle by Dick DeBiasse. Soon, managers at Porsche of North America recognized that racing could increase sales and chose Underwood and his team to become the recipients of engineering tips from the factory. Underwood became a founding member of the New Jersey chapter of the Porsche Club of America. He maintained friendships with others interested in driving both motorcycles and Porsches, such as Steve McQueen and George Mennen.

He raced in Class F in SCCA, at Indianapolis at the Indy 500, and the Grand Prix circuit in Formula One Racing in factory Jaguars for Briggs Cunningham and later Porsche 904s. He was following Don Wester when Don's automobile struck Mario Andretti's at Sebring in 1966 and had to drive blindly through the tragic accident scene where four spectators were killed after they entered a prohibited area.

Lake Underwood was one of the founders of the Watkins Glen Racing School where he taught Paul Newman to drive race cars for the movies. Carroll Shelby described Lake Underwood as one of the top ten drivers in the USA and Excellence, the magazine about Porsche, named Lake Underwood as Porsche's "Quiet Giant".

Quadroid

The Quadroid is a genetically engineered creature from the Metroid universe. The creature was created from leech and reptile DNA. The creature possesses a green membrane containing nuclei, similar to the Metroid's membrane, and has claws and a tail for crawling on the ground and on walls. The creature also has the ability to sap energy from living creatures, just like a Metroid. The only main difference between the Metroid and the Quadroid is that the Metroid can float in the air. It is not known who created the species, but since it has so many similarities to the Metroid, one can suspect that this creature was created by the Chozo, the species of birdlike humanoids that created the Metroid. The Quadroid has only been reported on planets and space stations in the Alimbic Cluster in the Tetra Galaxy by a number of rogue bounty hunters.

Chattman and his friend Rich Tarantino created the website in the hopes to become the web's first hybrid - combining real interviews with celebrities with very fake news items. The site covers the world of movies, music, television, and devotes a section to mustaches. The "bertometers" are the site's calling card, which is saying a lot since their interview subjects include Davy Jones of the Monkees and 80s icon Rick Moranis. A hack feature, or "hack seconds", is a capability to stop the second hand, typically when the setting (or winding) stem is withdrawn. Movement is restored when the stem is pushed in. This allows precise setting and synchronization of one or more timepieces.

Typical is a film scene with the commandos huddled around to set their watches. The leader says, "I have twenty hundred -- mark!," and they all push in their winding stems.

On some watches without this feature, the effect may be emulated by very lightly turning the setting stem in the reverse direction, holding the second hand in place. Releasing the light pressure allows the second hand to begin movement again. Very tricky, at best, however, it does often work.

The Ride Theory is an up and coming band from Hamilton, better known as "The Hammer". Their style has been called "Surf Rock" yet that is open to be debated. Regardless, they are a band with huge potential and have opened for such hit bands as Billy Talent and The Arcade Fire. They also received an invitation to play on Falcon Beach in an upcoming episode.
