Vodochody is a municipality and village in Prague-East District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 800 inhabitants.
Administrative parts
[edit]The village of Hoštice is an administrative part of Vodochody.
Etymology
[edit]The name is derived from the words voda ('water') and chodit ('walk'). The name referred to "village of people who walk on water", which probably meant "village of fishermen".[2]
Geography
[edit]Vodochody is located about 10 kilometres (6 mi) north of Prague. It lies in the Prague Plateau.

Transport
[edit]There is a small airport in the municipal territory, Vodochody Airport. It serves to the aircraft construction company Aero Vodochody, which is located in neighbouring Odolena Voda.
