Proposed deletion of Liuchonghe Bridge
[edit]The deletion of an article you created, Liuchonghe Bridge, has been proposed for the following reason:
- Importance or signifigance not asserted, no references given.
You are welcome to improve the article to meet Wikipedia's quality standards and remove the deletion notice from the article. You may also remove the notice if you disagree with the deletion, though in such cases, further discussion may take place at Articles for deletion, and the article may still be deleted if there is a consensus to do so.
Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy. You may wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Yangtze River bridges and tunnels
[edit]Dear ShakeyIsles, I see that you have made substantial contributions to Yangtze River bridges and tunnels including the creation of individual articles for many of the bridges and tunnels and the conversion of parts of the main table that I created two years ago into separate tables with images embedded and coordinates added. I welcome improvements to this subject area and want to commend you for the excellent work you have done. I would like to point that in your creation of separate tables for the Chongqing and Hubei sections of the river, you have made what was once a single-sortable table into non-sortable. This change may have been inadvertent but is significant to the article. A sortable table allows readers not only to see all of the information listed but to manipulate the information for different purposes. For example, the sortable table allows bridges to be ranked by when they were built, their length and type. With separate tables, the ability to gain new insights from the same data is lost. I do not think it would be difficult to recombine the tables you have created into one main sortable table. All it takes is to re-insert of one narrow column for order and another for province. The location and carries column could be made narrower to create the space. Thank you for your attention. ContinentalAve (talk) 04:22, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi, just saw what you have done to this page. The full and official name of this bridge is Wuhan Baishazhou Yangtze River Bridge, not just Baishazhou Bridge. See [1] in Chinese. Baishazhou (zh:白沙洲) is a common name in China, referring to any island with white sand. If you have contradicting source, please provide them here. Otherwise please undo what you have done. Same thing goes with Wuhan Junshan Yangtze River Bridge and any other bridges you have renamed to a shorter one. See [2]. --Howchou (talk) 04:50, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Red Peak
[edit]Things are getting completely out of hand at the Red Peak article on the similar designs subsection. We now have two flags that, in my opinion, do not meet the notability requirements. You and others were right, the similar designs is a bottomless pit. I am prepared to create a new article for the Home flag, since that was the Morgan Foundation winner and a Top 40 flag, and to delete the Rise and Bonds of New Origin content.
But the problem is that I am busy with graduate school and need help from the community. We need to write the public debate section as you suggested, and this can incorporate the bit about Peak Engineering. I fear that, gradually, we are losing control of the process. When available, I have been working on adding content to the history section, such as on the bill information and passage, but this is still unfinished.
Inclusing Hshook on this as well. Thanks everyone! Sgvrfjs (talk) 00:38, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. About cricket records
[edit]Hi. I appreciate your contributions in cricket articles. Here, I have a proposal. There are so many new articles on the way for create.
- To complete the missing articles of template
{{Head-to-head records of Test cricket teams}}
- To create template and articles on five-wicket takers of all teams on sample of cricket centurions template Template:Cricket five-wicket takers
Sample Link is there.. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?class=1;filter=advanced;orderby=start;size=200;team=8;template=results;type=bowling;wicketsmin1=5;wicketsval1=wickets
And also, You have created the page of New Zealand Twenty20 International records under the name List of Twenty20 Cricket records for New Zealand. But, I must say that all the records of other nations were created under the name List of Sri Lanka T20 International cricket records, List of Pakistan Twenty20 International cricket records, etc. So, it is good to create articles with the accepted name types. Do not create article citing "for New Zealand" ..etc. Hope you will co-op with us to create articles. Cheers. Gihan Jayaweera (talk)

[edit]Could you please consider reversing your move on this page. I do not see a consensus at the page WP:RMCI has that as closing for the stable title. Pingtang Bridge moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Pingtang Bridge, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Shag River
[edit]Hi ShakyIsles - I've moved the articles on the two Shag Rivers (your new article and the existing one) to Shag River (Fiordland) and Shag River (Otago). in the first one you'd got a misplaced comma which was causing problems, and it's better to name it for its general area rather than for the island. In the case of the Otago one, the NZ naming convention is to list places by their region if there's a need to dab, and only to use the district if there are two within the same region. Thanks for the new article! Grutness...wha? 13:55, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Moving NZ articles to dual names
[edit]Hi ShakyIsles. I noticed you've been moving a lot of NZ place articles to their dual names, in what I hope is simply a misreading of the guidelines at NCNZ. Moving a page to a dual name should be supported by the dual name's common use per WP:COMMONNAME. The guideline does not support moving pages based on any official use.
I'm writing here in the hope that we can see eye to eye, and so that if I do move some (not necessarily all) of these pages back, it won't seem like a personal attack or an affront to your efforts to improve Wikipedia. I suspect you have your own motives for moving all these pages, and I already said so on the Clutha talk page, but my reversions are certainly no move to stifle the Māori language, or silence NZ's multi-cultural nature. — HTGS (talk) 23:55, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

- You may be able to find some references at Papers Past. See this newspaper search although the first few entries appear to relate to the Māori-language word rather than the locality. The top of the search page also offers searches of magazines and parliamentary papers which might also be relevant.
- I was going to offer to take a photo for you, as I'll be passing through Oio (Upper Retaruke Road junction) in a few weeks, but Google informs me that although it's only 25 km further to Whakahoro, it will take 85 minutes each way, and although I'd love to explore in that area I won't have the time to do so.-gadfium 19:59, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
- We have a likely photo on commons: File:Retaruke River from Whakahoro Bridge.jpg. @Johnragla: took the photo so may be able to help with the draft. There are also some photos on Flickr. Most are not under a free license, but many people when asked will happily relicense a photo under CC-BY so it can be used on Wikipedia. -gadfium 20:52, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Tutaekuri River and Waiohiki
[edit]Thanks for yoiur fixes at Tutaekuri River and Waiohiki. I mistakenly added macrons to Tutaekuri River on the Waiohiki page because I saw that the article for the river had macrons in the name. And I assumed that either the name wasn't updated, or someone removed the macrons, because apparently some people on Wikipedia don't like to use them in articles for NZ places. But thanks again for your fixes. Michael60634 (talk) 00:03, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Marine reserve maps
[edit]Kia ora ShakyIsles, thanks again for doing the maps for the marine reserve page and sorry that it took so long for me to suss the rest of it out! In the process, I've just noticed that some of the maps for a few of the reserves include the land of islands they're surrounding, rather than just the water and stopping at the shore. How difficult do you think it'd be to exclude the land from the maps, given that presumably the paths all exist already? I'm happy to try and give it a shot myself if you reckon it'd be straightforward enough, or if you have time and were willing to do it that'd be awesome too! Turnagra (talk) 04:44, 22 July 2023 (UTC)

A bit of a gap since the last postcard, but what a great time we've had with the Wikipedian at Large project in the interim • The highlight has been having Marshall and Lyn join me on the West Coast for a few days, visiting Fox Glacier and Whataroa • We now have good photo collections for the newly-created Waitangiroto Nature Reserve, and a a much improved article with galler • The Whataroa article has been improved with local history and links to the White Herons • We also have much better coverage of Fox Glacier, including new Ngāi Tahu viewing place Te Kopikopiko o te Waka, and photos of Te Weheka Walkway/Cycleway and the South Side Walkway/Cycleway • Could I get you all to check back through your contributions and add anything extra you've done to the [Progress page as we wrap up • Also—I'm hosting a catch-up meeting on Sunday November 12, 2:30 pm, online at my Whereby chat room. This is a chance to go over anything you'd still like to see improved, talk about how the project went and possibilities for future ones, and announce winners of prizes for most or best contributions. Drop me a line at mikerove.wiki if you can make it (or can't but have ideas about the project) • Thank you all for your contributions, however small, and chat soon. — Giantflightlessbirds |

Invitation to an in-person meetup in Mohua / Golden Bay
[edit]Thinking about your summer break? Think about joining other Wikipedians and Wikimedians in Golden Bay / Mohua! Details are on the meetup page. There's heaps of interesting stuff to work on e.g. the oldest extant waka or New Zealand's oldest ongoing legal case. Or you may spend your time taking photos and then upload them.
Golden Bay is hard to get to and the airline flying into Tākaka uses small planes, so we are holding some seats from and to Wellington and we are offering attendees a $200 travel subsidy to help with costs.
Be in touch with Schwede66 if this event interests you and you'd like to discuss logistics. Schwede66 09:14, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

The article Angelus Peak (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Disambiguation page not required (WP:ONEOTHER). Primary topic article has a hatnote to the only other use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 08:23, 7 September 2024 (UTC)
