Guidelines

Welcome to my talkpage! I'd love to hear any suggestions, news, or anything you have to say to make you and I better Wikipedians. But before you type away, please read over the guidelines so that you can reach me in the most effective way. Thanx!

  1. Please sign all of your comments. If you forget to sign a comment, please go back and give your comment a signature so that I'll know who contacted me and so I can get back to you.
  2. Please keep all conversations civil. It doesn't matter what you want to say, no burning, personal flaming, or any kind of name-calling and acting rude and uncivil won't get you point across any further. So please, for the good of the conversation and to keep our attitudes likable, act civil.
  3. If you are starting a new section, please use the [ + ] tab next to the edit tab (if using Monobook skin) or simply click here to get started.
  4. Before you hit [Save page] click the [Show preview] button so you can check for any errors you may have made in conventional editing and make sure everything looks right so you'll get your message across in the most convenient way.
  5. Suggestions for my personal improvment as a Wikipedian are always welcome, as it's the only way I'll learn.

Since you're the most knowledgable person on Wikipedia i know, could you help me with a problem? On my userpage, around the Signpost and Award sections on the righthand side, the links seem not to work and occasionally some random pixel will lead my to a random page, most often Punk rock, Cancer (astrology), The Simpsons, and my emailuser page. Can you help me fix/figure out the problem and what's causing it? Thanx, Ṣ₡ЯՄ♏ʂɧ♆ ♲ recycle kids! omg i'm ur biggest fan... 22:36, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really sure where the problem could be; it looked fine to me. However, you signature is way, way too long and excessively colorful. Please see Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing your signature. -- tariqabjotu 22:42, 12 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

Your current signature is missing a few closing tags and is breaking the syntax of some talk pages. Could you please go through and check for any missing tags, I'm pretty sure you're missing a tag at the end. Many thanks, Extranet talk 03:12, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Scrumshus. An automated process has found and removed an image tagged as a nonfree image, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:01 911 For Peace.ogg) was found at the following location: User:Scrumshus/Random project. This image was removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg, so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image to replace it with. Re:help a guy out with references?

Ok, I checked them out and it seems like they're working. They aren't properly formatted though (and neither are the Green Day ones which I have been slowly fixing). However, there is a website that will format them for you, just need to add the <ref name=> part. It's at http://tools.wikimedia.de/~magnus/makeref.php and it is very useful for properly formatting citations. Hope that helps!  Orfen User Talk | Contribs 01:16, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Working_Class_Hero.ogg

Thanks for uploading Image:Working_Class_Hero.ogg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 08:19, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have tagged Image:01_911_For_Peace.ogg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. Capital on Nimrod

Hi. I noticed that you are interested in Green Day, so I invite you to read my proposal to change nimrod. to Nimrod, at Talk:Green Day#Capital on Nimrod. I think there's no reason not to change it, but I have been waiting for responses due to the note at the top of the talk page about the capitalization. I appreciate any comments. Thanks. - Jon Stockton 13:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wanna help me?

It has to do with Green Day. If you want to help, please leave me a message. Well, I'll just tell you what it's about. About three days ago, I entirely revamped the Dookie article, and got it to GA level the next day. I need your help to get it to FA sooner or later. So, want to help? I really don't know what to do to make it better, and I need some outside opinions. Xihix 16:32, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:I Fought The Law.ogg)

Thanks for uploading Image:I Fought The Law.ogg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:07, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Lookoutgd.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Lookoutgd.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:56, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Scri19.png, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Motto of the Day Help Request April 2014

Motto of the Day (WP:MOTD) is in a state of emergency and really needs your help! There are not enough editors who are reviewing or nominating mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review, and this probably means that you will notice a red link or “This space for rent” as our mottos for the next weeks and months.

Please take a moment to review the nominations and nominate your own new mottos at Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/In review and Wikipedia:Motto of the day/Nominations/'Specials. Any help would be appreciated! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 09:13, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This message has been sent by pjoef on behalf of Motto of the Day to all editors of the English Wikipedia who are showing MOTD's templates on their pages, and to all the participants to MOTD: (page, template, and category).

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
