Calmac

Although Calmac operates in a traditionally Gaelic-speaking part of Scotland, it uses English names for its fleet. It is not appropriate to go through a list of their ferries and add Gaelic translations of your own invention. Zacwill (talk) 20:41, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Zacwill. what you have wrote is simply not true. While the official names of the ships are registered in English, they also display a Gaelic form on their vessels and website due to their bilingual policy. This information should therefore be displayed on the relevant Wikipedia pages, as it had done for many years before you arbitrarily deleted this information. Additionally, checking the relevant websites, including https://www.cmassets.co.uk/ferries/, will also show you that the Gaelic translations are not of my own invention, as you succinctly put it. Fair enough. I assumed that these were user-invented translations because I couldn't find sources that mentioned them, but looking at the vessels, I see that the Gaelic names are in fact displayed alongside the English names. Zacwill (talk) 21:39, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
