Wikiproject Military history coordinator election nominations open

[edit]

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:05, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:28, 28 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

June 2024 Reversion

[edit]

Hello, you recently reverted a change of mine in Portal:Current events/2024 June 8.

My edit was correct, and should not have been reverted. None of the sources claim that Hamas or the IDF claim (respectively) that 210+ or <100 civilians were killed, only that that many people were killed. The current phrasing suggests that 210+ or <100 civilians were killed ("Multiple Palestinian civilians are killed in the raid, with Palestinian officials claiming 210, and Israeli sources claiming under 100."), with more militants dead on top of that. Please restore my edit. אקעגן (talk) 21:35, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit was incorrect and should have indeed been reverted. And you are wrong on all points. Please read the sources.
*1. "Palestinian officials said killed more than 200 people, one of the single bloodiest Israeli assaults of the eight-month-old war."
*2. "...the spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, said. "We know about under 100 (Palestinian) casualties. I don't know how many from them are terrorists," he said in a briefing with journalists."
*3. "Gazan paramedics and residents said the assault killed scores of people and left mangled bodies of men, women and children strewn around a marketplace and a mosque.
*4 "CNN has no way of verifying casualty numbers reported by the government media office in Gaza. The media office does not differentiate between civilians and militants killed. An Israeli military spokesperson put the number of casualties from the operation at “under 100,” and had no information on how many of those were civilians."

None of those sources say that those casualties were all civilians, which is what your text implied and what I changed. I am still not sure where you think I was wrong. In any event, I see you yourself made almost exactly the same change I did (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portal:Current_events/2024_June_8&diff=1227988049&oldid=1227987033&title=Portal%3ACurrent_events%2F2024_June_8&diffonly=1) and without comment!! אקעגן (talk) 21:52, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, please read sources first before making changes, and also, please research the topic first before making changes. Read Daniel Hagari and read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Please remember in the future to remain neutral in your editing.

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
