Adding on to the template message, I've responded to you at my talk page. Nikkimaria (talk) 18:52, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Oishiisou, is your class involved with the school and university program at all? If not, you might mention it to your prof or the course coordinator. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:17, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent question, Nikkimaria - I'll ask. Took a quick look at the link and it looks like a great resource. Oishiisou (talk) 18:03, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A cupcake for you!

[edit]
Hi Oishiisou- Here is a cupcake to sustain you on our 6 week journey- looking forward to cohorting with you in this course! Ncsjfreed (talk) 19:36, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lovely cupcake, Ncsjfreed. I was feeling a bit peckish...thank you! Oishiisou (talk) 20:05, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Like your research area- where you there at the poster presentation?--Ncsjfreed (talk) 21:32, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ncsjfreed: Thanks for the vote of confidence on research area. I think it will be really interesting, and this six weeks will give me a nice chance to look around and get impressions of the community. Yes, I was at the poster presentation, but I know that it was tough to see all the posters and talk to everyone - way too many interesting conversations going on! Oishiisou (talk) 18:50, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Any more cupcakes?

[edit]

Well, Oishiisou, if there is still Wikipedian cupcakes I'd love to have one too. I think this is looking like a key to the Wikipedia community. Yhuo (talk) 02:04, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Yhuo: I think you're right - as in any community, the sharing of food smooths the way for good social relations. Social capital through cupcakes! Oishiisou (talk) 18:54, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings

WOW ... impressive user page! Please share insights on your wikipedia journey and on your research ... we spoke briefly @ the symposium, would like to hear more:)--4tiggy (talk) 17:16, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, 4tiggy...I'm always looking for people to bounce ideas off with the research project, so definitely happy to share insights and hear your thoughts if this is a topic that interests you! Oishiisou (talk) 18:58, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Oishiisou! Nice page! Got a great tip from Nikkimaria - I can sign off now :)Japson88 (talk) 17:22, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Japson88[reply]

Thanks, Oishiisou, for the stroopwafel! Actually, waffles were, in vivo, on the menu. Probably not as good as moon waffles ( http://www.food.com/recipe/homers-patented-space-age-out-of-this-world-moon-waffles-8792 ) but probably a lot better for you! Some bubble tea for you!

[edit]
Thanks for the Cup o' Tea Oishiisou! Your page is awesome - do you have any secrets to the way you organized your userboxes? Mine are a scattered mess so looking for guidance there. Meanwhile, I was just strolling through Chinatown in Victoria and thought you'd like a Bubble Tea - hope you like tapioca;) Bavic1 (talk) 21:23, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I like this drinks exchange, classmates. Oishiisou, your user box organization is great! Stan mact (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 07:27, 10 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]

Hi Linda, how are you? How do you find these amazing userboxes? Also, how are people posting these gifts of food? How is everything where you are? haidillHaidill (talk) 14:16, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Haidill, I'm not Linda but maybe I can help you out: you can browse for userboxes using the links at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Gallery. As for the food, do you see a tab at the top of the page (near the edit and discussion tabs) that either says "Wikilove" or has a heart on it? You can use that to post food, kittens or barnstars. Cheers, Nikkimaria (talk) 16:04, 10 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A bowl of strawberries for you!

Thanks so much for your help with userboxes! I really appreciate it! Haidill (talk) 09:17, 11 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A cheeseburger for you!

Good Article Reviews

[edit]

Hey, I just wanted to give you a heads up. While the enthusiasm and initiative is admirable, it is actually inappropriate for new editors to review or assess articles in any capacity. The Good Article review and assessment is actually rather extensive with several specific and required steps to go through prior to approval. With all sincerity, please do not attempt to review or assess any more articles. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Best regards, Cind.amuse (Cindy) 18:54, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping us new editors through the system. Thought I was safe on this one since Good article nominations states that articles "can benominated by anyone, and reviewed by any registered user who has not contributed significantly to the article." Perhaps the instructions on that page could be revised if they're inaccurate? Oishiisou (talk) 03:30, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Linda, I just wanted to say thanks for your review of my nom of Giles Muhame. I'm just as bewildered as you as to why Cindy would tell you your behavior is inappropriate when you're following the explicit, stated instructions, but unfortunately this sort of administrative confusion/insanity is pretty common on Wikipedia. In any case, I appreciate your taking the initiative and making the effort! All best, -- Khazar (talk) 07:30, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Greetings Linda. Ah, this looks like a tricky situation, and I thought I'd try to explain the situation. Anyone may review an article, meaning you don't need any special credentials... but reviewers do have to be pretty familiar with the GA criteria so that they can apply them. For instance, I can't determine whether an article complies with complies with the manual of style guidelines (criterion 1b) until I'm very familiar with the Manual of Style. I can't tell whether the images have valid fair use rationales (criterion 6a) unless I've read the relevant guideline. It is rather a lot to know, and it can seem bureaucratic, I know. I apologize if the Wikipedia:Good article nominations page made it seem like it would be easy for a new Wikipedian to jump right in. You're right, the instructions might need to be reworded. I hope this process hasn't been unpleasant for you, but I'm sure Cindy did the right thing. Let me know if I can help with, well, anything on Wikipedia; I like to work with new folks. All the best, – Quadell (talk) 21:36, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. This looks really promising! Would you like any help pulling information into the article? – Quadell (talk) 21:39, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Quadell, thank you for your explanation of the GA process, and for your offer of help with the article on KAG. All help is welcome! Oishiisou (talk) 11:53, 14 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption request

[edit]

Hi Oishiisou, I notice you've had a request for adoption up for a little while. As you are not currently active, I've removed the current request. If you would still like to be adopted, can I suggest that you contact one of the editors on the list of adopters? As Wikipedia is a volunteer project and many adopters are busy, a more pro-active approach would mean that you are more likely to be noticed. If you've got any questions, feel free to leave me a message. WormTT · (talk) 13:52, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
