Template:Turkish elections
[edit]Hello Nub Cake. As you may have seen, I reverted your addition of Cihanbeyli by-election, 2002 to the Turkish elections template. The template is only for elections to national bodies (or local elections carried out across the country at a single time), so a single by-election for a mayor would not be appropriate for the template. In all other cases where by-elections are present on these templates, they are only for the national parliament. Thanks, Number 57 14:59, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. Not sure why it would matter so much, especially as the infobox is hardly clustered and it simply just provides an easier way of viewing the Cihanbeyli by-election, 2002 page, which after all is a by-election in Turkey. If you insist on not including it, however, then it's not a big deal. Nub Cake (talk) 17:31, 10 March 2015 (UTC)
Why have you added so many blanks to Template:Infobox constituency? Alakzi (talk) 21:28, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Please don't fork {{Infobox constituency}}; if it's missing relevant fields, I can help with adding them. Alakzi (talk) 22:23, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. Apologies, I didn't know this wasn't allowed. The reason I copied the code from {{Infobox constituency}} to {{Infobox Grand National Assembly of Turkey electoral district}} was so we could add the number of MPs from an individual party to the infoboxes on the articles for the Electoral districts of Turkey (see, for example, Denizli (electoral district)). I tried, but this didn't seem to be possible without copying the code directly from the constituency template to the Grand National Assembly template. Nub Cake (talk) 22:27, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- It is allowed, but it's not necessarily a good idea. I'll see if I can add this to {{Infobox constituency}} tomorrow. Alakzi (talk) 22:35, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Just to clarify, my intention was to be able to have composition bars for different parties and the number of MPs they have in a constituency. I tried to add this feature to the Grand National Assembly template, but it transpired that the way I did it meant that the party I put first in the template is ordered first on every infobox. For example, if I put the Justice and Development Party (AKP) first in the template, then the AKP's composition bar will appear first in all the infoboxes, despite the fact that they may not have the most number of MPs (For example in Izmir). Nub Cake (talk) 22:50, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- See the sandbox and testcases. Alakzi (talk) 23:12, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for that, I think that pretty much overcame the problem I had. Just two more small things though, there are constituency articles (e.g. Tokat (electoral district) that list the constituencies historical number of seats from the 1920s up till now. Putting this information after ' |seats = ' , however, will probably mean that the composition boxes will stop working. I'm guessing this can be solved by simply adding a new label (e.g. in the constituency infobox template? Finally, would it make more sense to have the list of MPs under the 'representation' heading by adding another label under the parties instead of using the one under 'current electoral district'? Nevertheless, thanks for your help! Nub Cake (talk) 23:49, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
- Why will the composition boxes stop working? I think that it's probably better not to add more custom parameters than necessary. Alakzi (talk) 12:31, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- Becuase the composition boxes depend on the seat number, don't they? So if the seats parameter is 7, the composition boxes will show x / 7. If the seats parameter was 7 (2011-)<br>6 (1999-2011)<br>10 (1983-1999), then the composition box would look like x / 7 (2011-)<br>6 (1999-2011)<br>10 (1983-1999), which I'm pretty sure would give an error. Nub Cake (talk) 12:35, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- The easiest thing to do would be to add an extra parameter,
{{{Current seats}}}
. We could use Module:String to extract the number from{{{Seats}}}
, but I'd really rather not. Alakzi (talk) 12:41, 13 March 2015 (UTC)- Is it okay if I work on it then and see if I can find a way round it by causing minimal disruption to it as possible? I don't really see why a list of the previous number of seats is necessary in the first place but since they're there in some constituency articles, I don't really want to delete information either. Nub Cake (talk) 12:43, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- That would be an additional parameter. Why would there be disruption? Alakzi (talk) 12:48, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- Apologies, I misread your message. Nub Cake (talk) 12:51, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- I've added a parameter {{{Historical seats}}} which follows just after the current number of seats. It seems to have worked on the testcase. Nub Cake (talk) 12:57, 13 March 2015 (UTC)
- Is it all sorted now? Let me know if you need help with anything. Alakzi (talk) 02:36, 15 March 2015 (UTC)
- I think so, thanks very much for your help. I'll leave you a message if there are any problems. Nub Cake (talk) 11:19, 15 March 2015 (UTC)

You seem to be updating this page. I noticed a "Cite error: The named reference fotogaleri.bugun.com.tr was invoked but never defined (see the help page)." do you think you can fix this? I hate to see such a well sourced page lack one. :) -- A Certain White Cat chi? 21:55, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks for notifying me. This seems like it was due to the fact that an actual source wasn't actually supplied, but just referred to (sorry for the lack of technical terms!) Fortunately, this particular poll is available from numerous sources, most of which are credible (Turkey-wise). I've replaced the error with a different source denoting the same polling result. Hello, Nub Cake. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Umut Oran, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Umut Oran to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

Cut and paste move
[edit]Hello Nub Cake. I see you redirected an article at Turkish general election, 2019 to create a new one at Next Turkish general election. This is a WP:Cut and paste move and is not allowed. If you want to move an article to another title, you have to go through the WP:RM process. As a result, I have restored the 2019 article and turned the "next" article back into a redirect. Governors
[edit]Hi you’ve started a series of articles about the governors of the provinces. I observed that for the functions you link to Governor (Turkey). But actually the functions in 30 provinces and the other 51 provinces are not the same. I suggest you create two different paragraphs to be used in the 30 and 51 provinces respectively. Speedy deletion nomination of ANAR Research
[edit]Hello Nub Cake,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged ANAR Research for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thank you for correcting my flaw about Turkish general election
[edit]Hi Thanks a lot about that. Also I need help of you. There is a problem about Turkish Kurdistan article. Some Kurdish sympathizer wants to be known wrong information. They try to show area of majority Kurdish population larger than it became. Objective information is important. They are saying Osmaniye, Kahramanmaraş also Malatya has Kurdish majority. We know that it is wrong. They try to convince that from east of Ankara is completely Kurdistan. Same area also known Greater Armania too historically. They try to change the history. It is written Malatya, Kahraman Maraş and many Turkish majority cities are in Kurdistan and Turkish State refuses. They try to show Kurdish population higher, majority areas larger, Turkish state annexed them; Armenians didnt live there; there was just Kurdish population on this area. Just read the article. We know that there is a majority Kurdish population. That area is called Kurdistan without the official. But information has to be objective and real. They are trying to make propaganda. Please cover the article and keep the information objective. Antmqr (talk) 01:14, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Yoruldum. This is important for us to live in a peace. I support peace and solvents. But both of us know that Kahraman Maraş, Gaziantep, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye don't have Kurdish majortiy populution too. Both of us know that in the area once Armenian population once was higher then other. I'm with just the right information in wikipedia. Out of the wikipedia everyone can defend their political views. But wikipedia has to be objective. Stay in a peace. Antmqr (talk) 11:11, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- This problem is regrettable but my involvement is limited to reverting edits that clearly represent incorrect information for politically motivated reasons. Politically, I have no problem with the Kurds in the slightest, though even if I did, Wikipedia is not the place to express our political beliefs or influence others through misinformation. If I am honest, the name of the article 'Turkish Kurdistan' is in itself rather controversial. Edit Warring
[edit]Nub Cake, I don't want to report you for Edit warring, but if you don't revert your most recent, I will. DrArsenal (talk) 19:59, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- DrArsenal : Go ahead sir. I'm not reverting an edit that is backed up by a source and neither, I hope, are you. If you wish to take matters this far then I'm more than happy for admins to look at the case and decide who's in the wrong. Also, I would encourage you to read the edit warring article carefully before you take such action. Nub Cake (talk) 20:32, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan
[edit]Apparently, you have reverted the edits to Erdogan's page, stating that he is known and regarded as "Usta" and "Uzun Adam" and "Reis" among his supporters. If you want to be consistent and neutral, you should reflect the opinion of both sides, namely both his opponents and his supporters. Even though his opponents brand him as a dictator, his supporters think quite the opposite. You should not have done it.
Here was the portion removed by you: On the other hand, Erdogan is sometimes regarded as "Reis" (means chief in Turkish), "Uzun Adam" (tall man) and "Usta" (master) among his supporters.[1][2][3]
Since I do not have a wikipedia account and since the article seems to be locked, I cannot edit. But I kindly request you to remove your edit and add the portions above. Behaving otherwise is being highly biased.
Thank you.
- Hi. Although I am not a fan of Erdoğan, but neither am I insecure enough to remove sentences about his nicknames in an attempt to discredit him on a Wikipedia article. My removal of this information was not politically motivated. It was because information about some nicknames that his supporters give him is really not a significant piece of information that should be included in the lead section of any article. It is far to trivial to be included in a lead that is already quite long. By all means, add this information to a relevant part of the article. Nub Cake (talk) 21:11, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
I do not agree with you. You cannot judge whether it is a significant portion of information to be included or not. (In fact, it has been there for a very long time, and the other moderators did not really think that it should be removed. Anyways,) Lead section of an article is what gives the first impression to the reader. In fact, most of the people entering Wikipedia just read the lead section to have an idea about that particular article. If you really want to be neutral, you should keep both aspects in there. Otherwise, someone reading Erdogan's article might just think that he is really a dictator.
If you really want to be consistent, you should either remove the portion regarding "dictatorship" and create a subportion, such as "allegations by opposition journalists" and move that claims there, or revert your edit and keep both aspects in lead section.
In fact, what I really think is that, -as you have said- you are a strong opponent of Erdogan, and as a result of your political view, you are interpreting Wikipedia principles unwittingly in a different way. Your political opinion is not the issue in here and in fact I do not think that you do this purposedly, but you should be aware of the fact that this removal is really does not seem legitimate and seems highly politically motivated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.189.86.204 (talk) 14:15, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- Hi. How about you stop trying to tell me what I thought while making this edit and try and understand my reasoning instead. You are claiming that three nicknames given to him by supporters (and also by the way, he is hardly ever known as 'Uzun Adam' anymore) is an important piece of information to be included in the lead section. I don't think it is, and there is plenty of information in the article about his successes that balances out the criticisms (read the bit about the 2023 vision). It is highly trivial and not really noteworthy, whereas accusations of dictatorship definitely are. By your logic, the fact that moderators didn't revert my edit means that I am correct.
- Honestly, if my edit was politically motivated, I wouldn't be going after a sentence documenting some nicknames his supporters give him. I'd be deleting the bits about his achievements instead. I am not insecure or worried about readers finding out about what his supporters call him - it's not as if its going to lead to a massive popularity surge. The lead is already too long and information that is added to it should therefore be noteworthy.
- I have stated my reasons for removing this information. I'm not going to revert my edit, so if you are so worried about this that you will not see sense in my reasoning above, then please ask someone else to do it for you (of course I might remove it again, but hey... worth a shot) Nub Cake (talk) 19:12, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
I have tried to understand your logic -although it really does not make any sense-, an in fact, even provided an explanation to you, without accusing you, if you clearly read and understand what I have told you. I was thinking that you did not revert purposedly, but now I am sure that, you did this on purpose (Even your defensive words, "he is hardly ever known as... or hey.. worth a shot" signals it).
You cannot tell me when I should stop or not. This is another point. Since you are a moderator in Wikipedia, you are responsible for your own entries, as well as edits made by you. If you were a random person, editing something, I would not say this, but your position as a moderator puts a burden on your shoulders.
Again, it is your own view. Watch out, I did not say that, accusations of dictatorship are not noteworthy, but I also say, what his supporters think is also important. In fact, by saying that it is a trivial piece of information, you are somehow ignoring the opinion of his supporters, which is a remarkable percentage in Turkey. I have to say that, you are not at a position to trivialize what is thought by a significant number of people.
Furthermore, people are always picky about the attributions and adjectives. That is to say, a few adjectives are worth tons of information. People always pay attention to rumors and allegations. It clearly does not balance out.
The fact that moderators did not revert your edit is because of you are already a moderator. Moderators are picky about edits made from random IP's, but not about those made by other moderators, unless they are really into the point. Again, you are highly reflecting the typical behaviours exhibited by people of your own political behaviour.
You will not delete the achievements, obviously, due to the reasons I have explained about. You are also aware of the fact that human brain is highly selective to certain words, and removing a few words -such as the ones you have removed- would be much more impactful..
I will not ask for someone to do it, when the protection will expire, I will do it by myself. You sound so childish in your last piece of words (hey... worth a shot, which is basically equivalent to saying that I am a moderator, I can do whatever I want..)
Saying one more time, you are not at a position to regard some opinion held by a significant people as trivial -since this is not a scientific/objective fact- and all you've said is indeed signalling you are politically motivated, although you insist on not admitting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.189.31.80 (talk) 22:32, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
- Oh my... I'm not reading all of that. Please summarise it if you wish. I've made my point clear. Just to put this into perspective, you've written 1,000 words in defence of a single sentence documenting a hopelessly trivial piece of information. I would recommend that you use your time more effectively in the future rather than trying to tell me why I make edits. Just so you know, being against the subject of an article doesn't mean every edit you make on it is politically motivated or biased. You just need to have the capacity to be neutral and objective when necessary. If you go far back in the edit history, you'll notice that it was me who wrote about his achievements (referendums, economic recovery, infrastructure) in the lead as well as the bad stuff, so please, don't try and tell me that my edits are politically motivated when I've given you much more plausible reasons for them. Arrogance and narrow-mindedness are bad. Nub Cake (talk) 23:55, 7 February 2016 (UTC)
Definitely, arrogance and narrow-mindedness are terrible things, that you have been exhibiting even from the beginning of your words -I'm not reading all of that.., 1000 words in defence of ...-.
Do not worry, I have the capacity to grasp the issue, wish you will reach the same level of understanding and neutrality.. If I do think that something is wrong, I would invest my time to adress my criticism, no matter whether it is 1,000 or 1,000,000 sentences long.. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 18.189.31.80 (talk) 03:43, 8 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi. I see you tried to correct the naming of the article Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridg by copying the content to a new Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge. Unfortunately that is not allowed, as the new copy of the article would lose its revision history, which must be kept for copyright attribution reasons. I've done it by deleting your new copy at Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and then moving (renaming) the old Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridg article to the correct spelling. Nub Cake (talk) 13:49, 26 July 2016 (UTC)

Turkish election photos
[edit]Stop reverting my edits, I change the photos since they were taken at that time when the elections were held see here for example. The photo you want for the 2002 election article is taken in 2010 and is not so suitable. This is how they do it in the United States presidential election articles, they use the photos who is taken at the nearest time of the election date. I hope you understands that my edits are not disruptive and unnecessary or I will let the administrators intervene.--85.164.122.2 (talk) 16:55, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- The premise of your reverts are incorrect. Yes it is always beneficial for the pictures in the infoboxes to be as close to the date they refer to as possible, but for example as seen in the picture you selected for the 2002 general election, they are not always suitable in the slightest. Your edits also do not take into account the fact that a) Erdoğan does not look younger or older in the pictures your replacing in comparison to the existing pictures and b) the same convention is not being followed for pictures of Baykal, Bahçeli or Kılıçdaroğlu since we do not have a large collection of good photos of Turkish politicians spanning all years. Therefore, using pictures that were taken before the elections bears no advantage and in contrast is making them worse. The photos you insist on changing on the election articles were therefore selected specifically as the best possible choices for the infoboxes for the following reasons:
- They follow a general colour scheme that is also adhered to by the other photos in the infobox. For example, 2011 election infobox has a blue background scheme, 2007 is grey/brown, June 2015 is grey. This means the infoboxes fulfil the requirement of being simple and not overly complicated.
- Their crop is similar to that of the other pictures in the infobox. In other words, the distance between the top of the photo and the politician's heads are the same, they were taken the same distance, therefore they all resemble each other in terms of perspective.
- They were all taken at the same angle, unlike the photos you insist on replacing them with. The expressions on the politician's faces are also similar.
- I hope the above extensive considerations make you think again when you revert my edits as 'unnecessary'.
- In light of the above, I am reverting your edits for a final time and would have no problem with you getting an administrator involved if you think this is necessary. Nub Cake (talk) 18:07, 14 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi. I was wondering if you'd be interested in setting up Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Turkey), based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). Now it's not a contest in itself, it's designed to motivate people to inspire others to improve content and build something which demonstrates the hard work going into the country which is visible. The focus is more on quality improvements but new articles are welcome too. Eventually a Turkish National Contest could be created to fuel it, like Wikipedia:Awaken the Dragon, in which contestants can choose to keep the Amazon vouchers themselves to buy their own books for more articles or put them into book fund to help editors further improve Turkish-related topics by giving them the books they want. It will begin though as purely an improvement drive. If interested, or you think anybody else might be interested, alert them and sign up on the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Turkey talk page at the bottom. Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:12, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 11:26, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Turkish parliamentary election, 2023
[edit]Hey. All arrows point in the direction that we are going to merge parliamentary and presidential election articles for Turkey. Based on that, we already have an article on the Turkish general election, 2023. I stated clearly that if there are objections, then the issue should be discussed. Therefore I'm very confused as to why you have then simply gone ahead and launched a separate article, without even discussing it first? We already have all that information in the general election one. This is just creating a lot of unnecessary confusion. The entire merging process is messy and spread out over several talk pages, and since no final decision has been reached, there is nothing I can do to stop you from doing this; technically, you are in the right, after all. Still, you must realize that this will likely only create more work for us when we have to delete it again later. Μαρκος Δ 15:43, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. At the time of the establishment of this article (and also at the time of writing this as far as I'm aware), 'all arrows' do not point to any such action as no consensus has emerged at all on returning back to the one article layout. Just because a merge discussion has been initiated and you appear to be in favour of it, does not mean it is going to happen. if it does, it won't take an undue amount of manpower to merge the 2023 articles back into one so please don't worry too much. Also, it is not creating confusion at all. Quite the contrary, having two elections as two separate articles rather than all of them being scrunched into one big messy article is quite the opposite of confusing as far as I'm concerned.
