RevisionDelete?
[edit]Hi, maybe you'd use RevisionDelete for this grossly insulting edit. Thanks. --2001:999:50C:3E5C:7943:19A3:F48B:A38B (talk) 09:42, 25 December 2024 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – January 2025
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2024).
- Following an RFC, Wikipedia:Notability (species) was adopted as a subject-specific notability guideline.
- A request for comment is open to discuss whether admins should be advised to warn users rather than issue no-warning blocks to those who have posted promotional content outside of article space.
- The Nuke feature also now provides links to the userpage of the user whose pages were deleted, and to the pages which were not selected for deletion, after page deletions are queued. This enables easier follow-up admin-actions.
- Following the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been elected to the Arbitration Committee: CaptainEek, Daniel, Elli, KrakatoaKatie, Liz, Primefac, ScottishFinnishRadish, Theleekycauldron, Worm That Turned.
- A New Pages Patrol backlog drive is happening in January 2025 to reduce the number of unreviewed articles and redirects in the new pages feed. Sign up here to participate!

Copyright issues in “quote” parameter of a cite template
[edit]Hi!
You recently rejected a copyvio revdel request (raised against an edit I made) at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Electrolytic_corrosion&oldid=1268386141
However, I’d like to make sure that my reasoning/understanding of wiki policy is correct.
My position is summarized in my response to the editor who submitted the copyvio-revdel: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:1AmNobody24#c-Tooki-20250108203500-Electrolytic_corrosion
Could I impose on you to review what I wrote there, and to clarify whether external text copied into the “quote” parameter of a cite template constitutes plagiarism, and what guidance applies? The ‘cite web’ template documentation doesn’t address this question whatsoever, nor does the general Wikipedia documentation on copyright.
Thank you and regards, — tooki (talk) 00:21, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
