Thank you for keeping Extension:Score in sync

[edit]

Thank you for keeping my extension in sync with the Wikimedia SVN the last few days. I now have commit access and it's probably easiest if I treat the SVN as master repository from now on and fetch updates into the develop branch on GitHub.--GrafZahl (talk) 18:21, 21 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Gadget info <-> dependencies message

[edit]

Gday Mark. At the local gadget talk page here you said that updates for dependencies needed to be made. As this is going to affect the broader WMF community, I think that there is value in broadcasting this to smaller places, though as many of us steal and slightly adapt with our limited programming skills, it would be useful to add a little more tutorial/linking information to the broader message. Thanks for your consideration. — billinghurst sDrewth 01:58, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Using mediawikiwiki to test Pipe-separator

[edit]

Thank you for commenting at bugzilla:34321. I found that it was not ideal to use translatewiki.net to reproduce the bug, since it affects all Wikimedia wikis via LocalisationUpdate as you can see in [2]. Could you edit mw:MediaWiki:Pipe-separator/ja or somewhere else appropriate instead, to show an example case? Thanks, --Whym (talk) 05:27, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Bug tracking helper gadget

[edit]

I installed the gadget but was promptly reverted by an annoyed Tim Starling. Apparently, it overloaded the Bugzilla server the moment it was installed. The ajax call should only be made when the tracked template is found, but appears to be called on every page load. Can this be fixed? Edokter (talk) — 11:46, 13 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My...

[edit]

Hey Mark. My monobook.js isn't working anymore since the code update. Any idea how to fix it? Feel free to edit it or do whatever you want/need to do. My coding knowledge is sadly too limited to get an idea on what needs to be done. (No rush, I know there are probably more important things that need fixing, but maybe this is just trivial.) Thanks in advance, -Barras talk 23:47, 17 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dev input needed at SUL proposal

[edit]

Hello, I've put a proposal at meta:Wikimedia Forum#Proposal - complete unified login for all eligible accounts, and questions were raised that only a developer could answer. I know that Brion Vibber is the SUL guy, and I left him some messages, but he has not been editing in the month since this proposal was posted. I'm not sure who else would be interested in SUL. Some people mentioned filing a bug, but I'm not even sure how to format this as a bug. Would you mind taking a look at the proposal, or at least letting me know who I should be asking about this? I'd hate for the discussion to archive with no dev input. Thank you. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 23:23, 2 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It was just archived! I then undid the archiving and commented to hold it for a while. ▫ JohnnyMrNinja 20:27, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

MediaWiki talk pages

[edit]

Hi Mark, in the future, when you find out about a problem with a page in the MediaWiki namespace like the one you mentioned at MediaWiki talk:Sp-contributions-footer-anon# Links to African Network Information Center (AFRINIC) database broken, it'd be a good idea to also mention it at the technical village pump and/or Wikipedia:MediaWiki messages, so more people can see it. The MediaWiki interface messages aren't generally well watched. Graham87 12:49, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring a wiki from backup

[edit]

Couldn't the edit you made at Restoring a wiki from backup have been to change the link URL from "h ttp://" to "https://", to fix it? I can't change it to http:// because of a spam filter blocking my attempts. --Robkam (talk) 10:26, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The block came from Spam_blacklist, so, no, I cannot get around it. I suggest you take this up with them. If you get it unblockeded, then add it back, but, until then, it just looks like spam. -- MarkAHershberger(talk) 13:14, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Participanting in tutorial day?

[edit]

Hi Mark!

We're searching for person to give a tutorial in SMWCon Fall 2013 on introduction to MediaWiki or introduction to Semantic MediaWiki. As tutorials aim to attract more audience we need a person that knows both the technical side and understand the business needs. Will it be possible for you to give a tutorial?

Of course I will share the slides from older conferences and gather all the information about participants I could find.Katkov Yury (talk) 11:58, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would be much better at doing a tutorial for MediaWiki. Still, if you can only find slides for SMW, though, I'm willing to give it a try. Let me know what you come up with. -- MarkAHershberger(talk) 12:11, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Venetian Ghetto, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Borghetto (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

bn:Template:Convert

[edit]

I just read bn:Template talk:Convert where there is a link to T36193 which shows you doing some tricky code—amazing stuff. I know you were addressing a more general case, but FYI the immediate problem in that bn discussion has been resolved because I have replaced the system of convert templates with Module:Convert that I am developing. You can see the results at bn:User:Johnuniq/Translation. The module does an astonishing amount of work—it has tables to translate the input digits to and from English—but it seems to run ok. SMWCon Spring 2015 Proposal

[edit]

Greetings, I wanted to let you know that we’d love to have you present on your topic at the upcoming SMWCon in St. Louis. I’m excited to hear more about your work and I hope you are still eager to present.

We’ve just updated the program with all the submitted talkes. Please take a moment to look it over and let me know of any scheduling conflicts.

We’re going to have a pretty neat audio/video setup this year. You’ll be able to use your own computer to present and we will be in a location with ample wi-fi. Please make sure to bring your own adapter if needed (HDMI preferred, but we also have VGA).

We will be live streaming all presentations with a software called WebEx. To test your connection ahead of time, please visit try connecting to the test meeting.

We’ll also be recording the presenters and editing a video including slides after the event. Please update your talk page with a link to your slides or send them to me (this can be done after the event!).

I’m looking forward to meeting you in person. If you have any further needs or questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Yours, Chris Koerner Local Chair — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ckoerner (talkcontribs) 20:34, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Clear steps for setting up Movement Charter Drafting Committee selection group

[edit]

Dear MediaWiki Stakeholders' Group representative,

I am following up on the long email we sent to the user group last week regarding the setup process of the Movement Charter Drafting Committee affiliate selectors group. We are following up with a quick step-by-step summary to make the request more clear:

  • Step 1 - We are using a regional approach. Verify that your affiliate appears in the right region in the list. If yes, no action needed. If not, please correct it.
  • Step 2 - All affiliates in the region will nominate 1 selector for the whole region. Arrange an online meeting, social media conversation or wiki page to decide the process for your region.
  • Step 3 - Run the process of selecting the selector.
  • Step 4 - Notify the Movement Strategy and Governance team of the outcome, so we can set up and convene the group of selectors.
  • These steps should be completed by October 10, 2021.

Movement Strategy and Governance team is readily available to support or facilitate any regional discussions at any of the described steps.

The Movement Strategy and Governance team will be available to answer any questions or specifications you may have regarding this.

Looking forward to hearing from you!
