Thanks for that summary; it's useful, and a good reminder that WP:COMMONNAME is not the only point to consider. You seem to have missed Wikipedia:Naming conventions (government and legislation)#Elections, which is the guideline that states that the title should be in the form "Icelandic XX referendum, 2010". If you have the time, could you link to the policy/guideline pages you used? It's probably the time to think about how we're going to close the straw poll. Most (but maybe not all) people who are interested seem to have voted. I'm not suggesting closing it straight away, just to try to sort out some ground rules as to when and how it should be closed (seven days is a normal duration for a straw poll on enwiki). I suggest we ask someone from WP:MEDCAB to close it, that way we will get a neutral party. I must say that I'm a little concerned at some of the recent votes in favour of "Icelandic Icesave referendum, 2010": out of four IPs that have voted, two of them have that vote as their only contribution to WP and a third can be classed as a Single-purpose account (as can Icelandic Viking POWER (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log), recently blocked for disruption). I will raise these concerns with whoever closes the straw poll: if there is vote-stacking for the "Icesave" solution, it's support would be less clear. In a fit of completion mania I quickly purchased an official tome on Volvos and reinstituted your edit, now with references. Justifiably proud of this mine achievement, I felt a need to share it with you. How long were you thinking of leaving the tag there for without any discussion? If something is not being actively discussed on the talkpage, it should not have the tag. Otherwise we would end up with the tag plastered all over various articles. (Also, you'll note, I did not endorse the current name in the poll, so I can hardly be accused of wanting to keep it!) Volvo 700/900

I have a sneaking suspicion that the 740 Turbo 16V was also sold in Belgium. I can't tell for sure though, and I wouldn't remove the statement in the article; the B204GT/FT is actually known as "the Italian" in Sweden. But I would like to ask you to keep your eyes peeled if you see something supporting/contradicting. About splitting the article: I still think it deserves a split on its own merit, but another reason for a division is the issue of links to other language Wikipedias. Currently it's a mish mash (as listed here), aside from the complication of having six/seven differently named cars located on one page. Where's Wally/Waldo

Hello. Please notice that I am in no way advocating that 'Wally' ever be replaced with 'Waldo' in the article. All I am saying is that Wally's alternate English name (of which there is only one) be included next to his original name. In this case, it is the most widespread name, and it is the name that gave rise to Odlaw; there's no 'Yllaw', so it is perhaps the more prominent one, but it doesn't need to be to merit the brief mention it has now. I'm not even convinced that the foreign language translations have a place in the article, but I don't really feel strongly about that. At any rate, the alternate English name should certainly not be buried in a laundry-list of foreign language names; it should be where the reader expects to find it.

Just to be clear, neither of our actions counts as vandalism; we're edit warring, or perhaps POV-pushing, but those are different than defacing a page, just a terminology FYI. If you still feel that it can't be mentioned that Wally is also called Waldo, then you can start a request for comment at WP:RFC. I'll let you do the legwork as I'm fairly busy. Volvo technical details

As per your nicely written note I will overlook your assumption that I am from the US and as such don't factor in other countries.
I also will overlook your comment about 'condescending language'.

This poor attempt at humor out of the way some more words can follow.
Also what gave you the impression that I was being condescending? Pointing out that a wiring diagram for 1997 that also includes unrevised diagrams from older versions is not sufficient to show that something actually existed at that point in time was meant to be factual. Not to mention that, as per the rules, this seems to be a clear case of 'questionable' copyright. And again, where did the year of sale thing come from? I dislike that for anything other than sales figures as it fails to account for MY or VIN specific changes.

I have no idea how your understanding of Volvo is.
History section is supposed to use actual year dates and if necessary an added model year date. Because it can be confusing that in 1998 (year) both MY1998 and MY1999 were produced, without actual overlap but in the same year.

V-VIS was not available for the complete production run of the 850. The hard to find information about B5234FS is ignored for this statement. Volvo discontinued the use of LH 3.2 / EZ 129K for the model year 1997 with the above mentioned exception. There is an engine number break that is also present in your second source. Hopefully there is no disagreement that this system was not available for any X70 - those all had M 4.4.
I stand by my statement that your sources are not sufficient. The part you gave a number for does not come up in the parts system btw. Volvo very, very often disagress with their own documents. I count what was actually delivered. The year 1995 seems to be the cutoff point, somepoint during model year 1996.
