It was time to clear this out, so I made /Archive 1 for ya. -- Kevin Saff (talk) 16:27, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if my cuts were drastic, so was your reversal! I'll gladly take the Dialectizer and anything else--as long as I don't have to take someone's word for its importance. The article is sorely lacking in encyclopedicness; if the notability of these sections are referenced via inline citations, that would be a different matter, of course. Thanks for keeping me posted, Drmies (talk) 02:25, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck poking around. Drmies (talk) 03:23, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on OpenLeaks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 04:24, 10 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Kevin - the fife pictured was made 1869 on and is not from the Civil War

[edit]

Kevin - The pictured fife is not from the Civil War. It is from after the Civil War - 1869 on. lease go to www.fifedrum.org/sjbaretsky/cgi-bin/Fifes/Cloos.shtml or to www.fifedrum.org to research this. On the page Welcome to the FifeDrum Historical File Pages, it says that the machinery and methods to make tapered metal ferrules on the ends of fifes did not exist until 1869, well after the Civil War. The tapered ends and metal ferrules on the ends are probably Crosby style flute made by Cloos. The marks, etc. are explained on the mentioned web page. eBay sellers frequently sell these as Civil War, but they are not. No Crosby fife has ever been found, and they were marked W.A. Crosby/Boston. There may be reproductions, though. There is a Crosby fife with these markings at the Library of Congress. The fifes used in the Civil War would have been wood, without the metal bands. Or perhaps some were metal? -Vicki — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justushw (talkcontribs) 16:34, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know if that note got through - fife is not from the Civil War

[edit]

Kevin - I don't know if that note got through to you. The fife you have pictured on Wikipedia is not from the Civil War, because machinery and methods to make the tapered metal ferrules on the ends was not around until 1869. You can find information on the www.fifedrum.org website. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Justushw (talkcontribs) 16:38, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

File:Oware sowing.png needs authorship information

[edit]
Dear uploader:

The media file you uploaded as File:Oware sowing.png appears to be missing information as to its authorship (and or source), or if you did provide such information, it is confusing for others trying to make use of the image.

It would be appreciated if you would consider updating the file description page, to make the authorship of the media clearer.

Although some images may not need author information in obvious cases, (such where an applicable source is provided), authorship information aids users of the image, and helps ensure that appropriate credit is given (a requirement of some licenses).

  • If you created this media yourself, please consider explicitly including your user name, for which: {{subst:usernameexpand|Kevin Saff}} will produce an appropriate expansion,
    or use the {{own}} template.
  • If this is an old image, for which the authorship is unknown or impossible to determine, please indicate this on the file description page.
If you have any questions please see Help:File page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 15:32, 29 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Graphics BBS has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
