Information icon Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to Dillian Whyte, did not appear constructive and has been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Jarrell Miller, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use the sandbox for that. "Professional debut" in record tables

[edit]

A lot of your edits are being reverted per MOS:BOXING/RECORDNOT, bullet #1: ""Professional debut" is redundant due to the fight number column, and should only be included if the date of a boxer's debut is disputed." Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:05, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Here we go again.. I implore you to read MOS:BOXING/RECORD in its entirety. I'm having to revert many of your record table edits because you're overlinking locations, sanctioning bodies, or common place names. "Cuba" does not need linking at all; "New York City, New York, U.S." only needs linking the first time, etc. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 20:24, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ugh, again with the overlinking.. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:58, 12 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Now you're messing up U.S. date formats, and still overlinking weight classes. What's wrong with you? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:41, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
And again with changing date formats for no reason. What is your major malfunction? Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:16, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Bryant Jennings, you may be blocked from editing. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 20:12, 4 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dominic Breazeale, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Glendale, Jon Hill and The Ring (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Infobox dates

[edit]

Hello, I'm Mattythewhite. Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions was not quite right. When updating statistics within the infobox of a footballer, please make sure you update the timestamp at the same time, so that both readers and fellow editors know when the information was last updated.

You can do this by replacing the existing timestamp within the |club-update= or |pcupdate= parameter for club stats, or the |nationalteam-update= or |ntupdate= parameter for international stats, by adding five tildes (~~~~~), which generates the specific time the update was made.

If you have any questions about this, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you, Mattythewhite (talk) 21:30, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Jamesbu. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

EFL Trophy stats

[edit]

Hi, I noticed you recently removed stats for an EFL Trophy match from the James Collins article. Please note that, per discussions here and here, there is consensus to include these. I have therefore reverted your removal. Thanks, Nzd (talk) 12:37, 15 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Flynn Downes

[edit]

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that your stats update at Flynn Downes was incorrect. For Downes' 2018–19 stats, please refer to Soccerway, which is the inline citation used in the career statistics table. There is an error on Downes' Soccerbase page which states he came on as a fourth substitute in the away match against Birmingham when only three substitutions can be made in league matches. This has therefore skewed his appearance figures which Soccerbase have so far failed to fix. Please keep this in mind until this is fixed. Thank you. Released players

[edit]

Hi, I notice you repeated your edits at Tom Adeyemi with no further explanation. Player's contracts run until 30 June, meaning they essentially don't become free agents until 1 July so he remains an Ipswich player until that date. This is the consensus established at WP:FOOTBALL sometime ago, see Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 124#Players being released for confirmation of this. Thanks. Sources for stats tables

[edit]

Hello. Noticed you've been adding refs to Soccerbase seasons to a lot of stats tables recently.

The reference(s) on a row are supposed to tell the reader where the stats come from. But at Jordan Roberts (footballer, born 1994), you've added Soccerbase to several rows when it doesn't even mention him playing for the clubs concerned, let alone verify the stats for those clubs. E.g. the 2012/13 rows for the Conference clubs.

I've reverted to the earlier version with the Soccerway general source above the table: that covered most of the content of Jordan Roberts' stats, possibly all of it.

Please don't add sources unless they verify the content you put them against. And if you've done so on pages other than Jordan Robrets, please go back and correct yourself. Thanks, Struway2 (talk) 19:03, 8 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Stats table headers

[edit]

Hello again. By way of explanation: the As of match played ... thing means that the table is up-to-date as of that matchdate. It doesn't have to be the last match that the player appeared in, although it usually is during the season because the table only gets updated when he plays.

At the end of the season, standard practice is either change it to the club's last match date of the season (whether the player appeared in it or not), or comment out the match played bit and change it to As of end of ... season. That way, the reader (and potential editors) can see that the table's up to date.

Personally, I prefer the As of end of ... season version because it doesn't take any special knowledge of when particular seasons end to see at a glance that the table is up-to-date. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 09:09, 10 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DJ Campbell

[edit]

Hello. It isn't really a good idea to assume that an unreliable source is accurate or to blindly copy content from other pages. I know you got that source from the EFL League One Player of the Month page, but all that proves is that plenty of articles on here could do with better sourcing. Thing is, that source listed DJ Campbell of Brentford winning the January 2008 PotM: he left Brentford in 2006 and was at Leicester in League Two by Jan 2008. I'm guessing it's just a copy-paste error in the source, but it's a good illustration of why we're supposed to use reliable sources in preference to someone's long-dead personal website.

The good bit is, your edit pointed up the error in the League One PotM page which I've now fixed, so there's one less error on here now :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 12:23, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
