Speedy deletion of Ernest Peiris

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ernest Peiris requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

Notability of Thamali Peiris

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Thamali Peiris requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. The Fiddly Leprechaun (talk) 01:12, 14 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of List of Peiris

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article List of Peiris, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

A list of people with the same surname, doesn't meet notability criteria.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Your editing of Wikipedia

[edit]

Hi. As you may be aware, this is the encyclopedia that can be edited by anyone. However, it is understood that only edits that meet the required standards will last for any length of time. The matter of your contributions has been brought up here and it is considered that you need some more time before you will be able to add to the project. I suggest that you spend more time on other sites, and return to Wikipedia when it beneficial for both parties. If you continue to add articles, and make edits, that do not reach the standard required then your editing privileges may be revoked.

What I am saying is - come back when you are older. If you don't, you might be blocked.

Sorry about this, and I hope you will become a good editor in time. LessHeard vanU (talk) 22:19, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Do you read this page?

[edit]

I know that you like Wikipedia, but you must obey the rules if you want us to allow you to stay. Have you read the warning that was left here earlier?

Please provide a reason when you want to make changes to a page such as changing the spelling Peries to Peiris. If you do not do that then somebody will come along and undo the change you made. If you do this too many times we may stop you from editing here. For now, if you could explain why you change the spelling on the Peiris page I would be happy.

I am also removing the links to movie director, cricket player, and so on because those terms are explained on the pages of the people they link to. Soap Talk/Contributions 01:45, 14 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Information on your Userpage

[edit]

Hi Ernest Peiris. I don't intend to scare you away or attempt to intimidate you, but I thought you might want to reconsider some of the items on your userpage. You may have not realised that the items on your userpage release personal information about yourself (real name or age etc), which could be used against you in the future. While 99% of all the editors on Wikipedia are friendly, welcoming and harmless, there is a chance your personal information could be misused by editors not so 'high-minded'. A handful of editors have even felt real-world implications due to their Wikipedia edits and release of personal information.

I have deleted some revisions of your userpage in respect to your privacy for the time being, just in case you wish to reverse on your decision to have such content on public display. As a result, the information is only available to administrators. You are, of course, welcome to ask myself or another administrator to restore them, but I just wanted to make you aware of the risks involved with releasing personal information on such a public forum. If you wish to to have the personal information removed so that even administrators cannot view it, I can request oversight on your behalf. You are also welcome to discuss this with me on my talk page, or privately via e-mail if you have any concerns. Hope to hear from you. \ Backslash Forwardslash / {talk} 00:02, 30 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
