Speedy deletion of "Something in My House"

[edit]

A page you created, Something in My House, has been tagged for deletion in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

No indication of importance/significance. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. Thank you FunPika 20:07, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

further advice

[edit]

Let me give you some further advice, as an administrator dealing with new articles. There are a number of problems.

  1. The second part of the article is copied from your web site http://internationalcredentialing.org/ and the first part appears to be a publicity handout, though I have not yet found where it was copied from. This is not permitted-- it is copyright violation, unless you explicitly license the rights to the material according to our licensing, using the CC-BY-SA and the GNU licenses, as explained in WP:COPYRIGHT and WP:Donating copyrighted materials; be aware that these licenses give everyone in the world an irrevocable license to reuse and alter the material, even for commercial purposes.
  2. But even if you own the copyright and are willing to give us permission according to WP:DCM, the tone will not be encyclopedic and the material will not be suitable. A Wikipedia article needs to be written like an encyclopedia article, not a press release--don't praise the organization or person, say what they do. Don't talk about the overall importance of the subject--talk about what they have accomplished. nclude only material that would be of interest to a general reader coming across the mention of the subject and wanting the sort of information that would be found in an encyclopedia. Do not include material that would be of interest only to those associated with the subject, or to prospective clients of your members--that sort of content is considered promotional. I see that you address the prospective clients in such unacceptable way as "To inquire about your own states regulations please visit the IC&RC... " As a general rule, a suitable page will be best written by someone without Conflict of Interest; it's not impossible to do it properly with a conflict of interest or as a paid press agent, but it's relatively more difficult: you are automatically thinking in terms of what the subject wishes to communicate to the public, but an uninvolved person will think in terms of what the public might wish to know. It also leads to bias. The last sentence of the article reads: "up to half of all substance abuse professionals in the U.S. hold IC&RC certificates." but what that actually says is that More than half of them do not hold such certificates.
  3. A Wikipedia article needs to show notability with references providing substantial coverage from 3rd party independent published reliable sources, print or online, but not blogs or press releases, or material derived from press releases. I do not know if you will be able to do so--after all, you admit you do not represent the majority of professionals in the field.

If you think you can do it right according to our guidelines, and if you have sources, do so, but expect the article to be carefully checked for objectivity. Do not resubmit the present material. I give you a formal warning below, as is customary. DGG ( talk ) 17:39, 17 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/ADDICTIONS THERAPIST, a page you created, has not been edited in at least 180 days. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 15:32, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Caap23. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "ADDICTIONS THERAPIST".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/ADDICTIONS THERAPIST}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Rankersbo (talk) 20:14, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
