Arbitration case opened

[edit]

You were recently listed as a party to a request for arbitration. The Arbitration Committee has accepted that request for arbitration and an arbitration case has been opened at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Backlash to diversity and inclusion. Evidence that you wish the arbitrators to consider should be added to the evidence subpage, at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Backlash to diversity and inclusion/Evidence. Please add your evidence by October 10, 2024, which is when the evidence phase closes. You can also contribute to the case workshop subpage, Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Backlash to diversity and inclusion/Workshop. For a guide to the arbitration process, see Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Party Guide/Introduction. For the Arbitration Committee, SilverLocust 💬 12:13, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed decision posted

[edit]

In the open Backlash to diversity and inclusion arbitration case (also called Yasuke), the proposed findings and remedies have been posted—though you are not mentioned in any of them (aside from your evidence). If you wish, you may review this decision and draw the arbitrators' attention to any relevant material or statements. Comments may be brought to the attention of the committee on the proposed decision talk page. For a guide to the proposed decision, see Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Party Guide/Proposed decision. Dispute over on Hirohito

[edit]

In the past, you have pointed out that I have a tendency to get combative with other editors. How would you suggest dealing with an editor such as this one who shows little signs of compromise even when I've tried to explain why the statement he's making is misleading? Emiya1980 (talk) 22:21, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest? I'd just WP:DISENGAGE. On a glance my instinct is that a significant number of historians seems to qualify as MOS:WEASEL, though MOS:WEASEL does say it's not automatically weasel to use those words. If you're adamant that some sort manner of contention should be demonstrated, you can try to locate a source that utilizes similar language that many historians believe Hirohito was culpable and attribute the claim. In short, per WP:BURDEN, it's up to you to provide sources that verify there are an equally large number who argue he was merely a passive figure, and thus the contention. Until you can provide sources to support the edit, they're perfectly within policy to remove the edit.
Once you have located appropriate sources, simply create a Talk Page thread detailing your rationale and the sources you've found that support representing the claim was contested. Brocade River Poems (She/They) 22:42, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Here's a barnstar!

[edit]
The Special Barnstar
I thank you for continuing to have a presence in the editing of 15.ai. Your responses to many of claims in talk pages and when others were involved were very calm in spite of possible hostility. While I am not completely sure how Barnstars work, I feel quite sure you deserve one. Thought 1915 (talk) 16:54, 9 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I have no idea, either! Brocade River Poems (She/They) 11:34, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
User:Thought 1915, User:BrocadeRiverPoems - They work just as you did. Any editor can give one to any other editor. Robert McClenon (talk) 05:53, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An arbitration case Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Yasuke (formerly titled Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Backlash to diversity and inclusion) has now closed and the final decision is viewable at the link above. The following remedies have been enacted:

  • Yasuke is designated as a contentious topic. Starting in 2026 and checked yearly afterwards, this designation expires on 1 January if no sanctions have been logged in the preceding 2 years.
  • The article Yasuke is subject to a 1RR restriction for a period of one year.
  • Eirikr is topic banned from Yasuke, broadly construed. This restriction may be appealed twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.
  • Symphony Regalia is topic banned from Yasuke, broadly construed. This restriction may be appealed twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.
  • J2UDY7r00CRjH is topic banned from Yasuke, broadly construed. This restriction may be appealed twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.
  • Yvan Part is topic banned from Yasuke, broadly construed. This restriction may be appealed twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.
  • Gitz6666 is warned that disruptive behavior will lead to increasing sanctions if they continue.
  • Elinruby is subject to a one-way interaction ban with Gitz6666, subject to the usual exceptions. This ban may be appealed twelve months after the enactment of this remedy, and every twelve months thereafter.

Thank you for notifying me of your report. As I have mentioned in my statement, there are both a content dispute and a conduct dispute. The content dispute should be resolved by the RFC. (Maybe more editors will take part in the RFC now that I have neutrally mentioned it at a conduct noticeboard.) Robert McClenon (talk) 05:52, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem. Hopefully more users participate in the RfC, getting a broader consensus is helpful in resolving these issues. Brocade River Poems (She/They) 11:17, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notice.

Hi, BrocadeRiverPoems. Another user has filed a report about you at the admin's noticeboard and failed to notify you, so I am giving you that courtesy. ― "Ghost of Dan Gurney" (talk)  04:58, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It was an exhausting process which was a large waste of the time of myself and editors at large. It is baffling that people would think continuing to use the WPO thread that I submitted as evidence to ARBCOM against me is a good vehicle of attack, given that ARBCOM saw said thread of accusations and apparently did not find any merit to said accusations since I wasn't sanctioned. ArbCom 2024 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2024 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 2 December 2024. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2024 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:55, 19 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
