Welcome to my talk page. Please leave any new messages for me here. As Wikiquette on the issue seems to vary, I'll lay out my position: as of January 18, 2008 I will respond here, not on your talk page, unless you ask that I do otherwise (which is fine). If I've left a message for you on your page, it's fine to respond to me there. I prefer to keep threads together where it's reasonably possible.atakdoug (talk) 21:24, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your VandalProof Application

[edit]

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Atakdoug. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that: you have less then 250 mainspace (article) edits. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. Prodego talk 20:26, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Linking dates

[edit]

Hi Atakdoug,

I see you're cleaning up some articles, and appreciate the effort. But please note that WP:DATE#Dates containing a month and a day says that dates like January 1 should be linked. This allows people who prefer to see it displayed as "1 January" to have that done automatically. --barneca (talk) 15:59, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas Atakdoug, and thank you for reporting. The user now have been given a final warning, if he vandalizes after it, he can be blocked. His changes have been reverted and the page have been protected, so that only established editors (older then 3 days, if I recall correctly) can edit it. Regards, Snowolf How can I help? 09:43, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Atakdoug. Thanks for your comments at WP:MOSNUM. Unfortunately no consensus was reached, as Greg L more or less withdrew his proposal after Noetica's little intervention.

All is not lost though, as he is working with Jimp behind the scenes to try to make a tool that addresses the typesetting concerns. If you are interested in the details, I suggest you take a look at Greg L's talk page. Thunderbird2 (talk) 07:49, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Back at you after your post

[edit]

Atakdoug. It's nice to have your input. I've found that 0.2-em spaces look too narrow on Safari too. Please tell me whether the examples shown at Update appear to have appropriate-width gaps. Please also read my in-line comment, inserted into your post on my page.

Would you also be able to make a screen capture of the examples and e-mail it to me?

Hi, I made some changes to the Kendriya Vidyalaya article that you tagged for copy-editing. Could you please go through it again and point out which areas specifically are lacking, so that I can fix them? Thanks. ReluctantPhilosopher (talk) 16:10, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gattaca

[edit]

Are you satisfied with the changes to the Reactions section of the Gattaca article? --Loremaster (talk) 16:28, 17 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Trying it again at Talk:MOSNUM

[edit]

I wanted to give you a heads up that I’ve transplanted the most important parts from my talk page to here at Talk:MOSNUM. Hope to see you there. Greg L (my talk) 20:07, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man, I noticed on the 16th of January you said that you were beginning to copyedit the article. I was wondering how it's going? I'm not trying to rush you or anything but I really think all the article needs now is a thorough copyedit, so it will be cool to hear how that's going. Hi, In January you tagged this article for not citing any sources. Ever since it was written, it has contained direct source reference to two sources, N F Layard's 'Seventeen Suffolk Martyrs', and Foxe's Book of Martyrs, from which Layard's account is derived. This is the principal and main source for the subject, and therefore it is inappropriate to cite any further sources as they would be secondary and dependent upon these. The two sources appear, and have always appeared, in a clearly marked 'Sources' section. I am therefore going to remove your inappropriate tag. Eebahgum (talk) 09:59, 25 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Atakdoug, I'd like to refer you to an entry I worked hard at (Fowler: Prepositions are a terrible way to end a sentence with...): Troy Davis case. I have noticed you are an industrious copyeditor, and you are more than welcome to improve the article and fix the grammar. Cheers! SelfEvidentTruths (talk) 15:19, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:45, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Your edit (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Y_chromosome&diff=next&oldid=1127840293) is an interesting question, and I don't have a good answer. But I'm guessing that WP has an internal page for submitting articles that need work like this. If you can find the right page, you can add the article to that page. I hope this helps. You may respond here, if you wish. David Spector (talk) 00:49, 1 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
