THANKS!

[edit]

Dear AlexNg:

Thank you soooooooooooooooooooooo much for the translation, it was Riiiiiiiiiight on! (the first one).

Yes, it is a threat, and I am intending to translate it as one, so that's why I'm having so much trouble capturing the "threatfulness" of the original Chinese phrase.

I tried "I'll kill you!", but think that's too extreme and distorts the nature of the original phrase. Then I tried "I won't be nice/polite to you", but thought that was too soft.

Yours was riiiiiiiight on, thanks so much.

BTW, I used a slight variation "You better do this... or I'm gonna get you!", would that also be good?

Thanks for the barnstar. Actually, not only was your problem fun to solve, but I also learned something from it. Until now I used to use the quadratic formula to find if a quadratic form had a factorization. Now I discovered there is a simpler way, one I can easily do in my head if the coefficients are small – as they usually are. So I should thank you for posing this question.  --LambiamTalk 22:56, 8 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
