January 22, 1973 was the twenty-second day of the year. On that day more than 100 people died as a result of an airplane crash in Nigeria; Big George Foreman won the world heavyweight boxing championship from Smokin' Joe Frazier by second-round technical knockout in Jamaica; the United States Supreme Court issued its rulings in the landmark abortion cases of Roe vs. Wade & Doe vs Bolton and former President Lyndon Johnson died at his ranch in Johnson City, Texas. It was one of the few days in history on which four historical events all took place.
