Edmen Shahbazyan (born November 20, 1997) is a American mixed martial artist who competes in the Middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Mixed martial arts career
[edit]Early career
[edit]Before joining the UFC, Shahbazyan began training at Glendale Fight Club at nine years old, working with the likes of UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey[2] He amassed a 6-0 record with six first-round knockouts on the regional circuit before appearing on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series
[edit]Shahbazyan made his first and only appearance on Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series on July 17, 2018 vs. Antonio Jones, winning by first-round knockout and earning a UFC contract.[3] At the time of his signing, he was the second youngest fighter on the UFC roster.[4]
Ultimate Fighting Championship
[edit]Shahbazyan debuted at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale against Darren Stewart, winning the fight via split decision.[5]
In his second fight for the promotion, Zahabi faced Ricardo Ramos on November 4, 2017 at UFC 217.[6] He lost the fight by knockout in the third round.[7]
Zahabi faced Vince Morales on May 4, 2019 at UFC Fight Night 151.[8] He lost the fight by unanimous decision.[9]
