Hi. We really need your opinion on which of these photos would make the best Infobox portrait for the Rick Remender article. Could you please offer your opinion in that discussion? The most recent subsection of that discussion is here, so you can just chime in there if you don't want to read the whole thread. I really appreciate it. Thanks. IIRC, you are interested in psychogeography. You might like to try this guided walk around Bloomsbury: the Thin Veil of London. The last performance of the current season is tomorrow (22 Aug 2013). Wintour's Leap

[edit]

Following our talk today at the London meet, I have expanded your recent creation John Winter (royalist). I hope you don't mind but he turns out to have been quite an interesting character and a good subject for Did You Know, which I wanted to demonstrate. There's still quite a lot more to be written about him but this should do for now. There's a quid-prod-quo review to be done for DYK now and I'll take care of that in a day or two. Andrew Davidson (talk) 22:54, 8 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for that, Andrew, I feel you have really taken the page somewhere, and I would welcome it going for DYK.Leutha (talk) 11:42, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

Doing the right thing...

[edit]

Hi there, apologies for the lack of edit summary (my bad). I assumed the edit was vandalism without checking why someone might think that edit to List of schools in Tower Hamlets was correct... so sorry about that. So where do I begin? I'm guessing your reasoning for the edit was that the University of Cumbria has a campus in London. A lot of universities have satellite campuses at different locations... but in the context of these lists and navigation templates their inclusion is inappropriate as it can be seen as misleaing... the fact is the vast majority of Cumbria's operations occur in that part of the country, not London. While of course it should be mentioned in the uni's own article and the immediate locality article of the satellite campus, it should not be on these lists. Consider the University of London which has satellite or affiliated campuses in a great many counties in England, and different locations around the world? Or what about the Open University, which has study centres in practically all counties in Britain... should it be included on all lists? But I guess mostly the clue was in the section you added the university in to... Further education. List of schools don't list higher education institutions. Further education institutions are only included because there is some cross-over in terms of compulsory school years. But essentially these are lists for schools... institutions for school-age children. Not institutions that educate adults who volunteer for the courses. - Bleaney (talk) 23:33, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for your prompt response. Actually I did have some insight to the meaning of further education, and the reason why I felt it appropriate to include it there was that it provides Professional Development Resources there.Leutha (talk) 09:23, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, there is some cross-over here too, some higher education institutions do run FE courses, while some FE colleges offer degree level studies... but generally the dividing line is whether the institution has the power to award its own degrees... if so, it is considered a higher education institution and not FE. There does have to be some distinction on these lists, otherwise we might as well rename them List of educational institutions in... and list everything from universities to play-groups. but i'm glad we got to the right thing ;) - Bleaney (talk) 18:58, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Geca Kon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Open Badges

[edit]

Hi Leutha: what happened to the idea of issuing Credly badges for Wikimania? Were there any barriers? I'd like to use open badges with the Campus Ambassador programme. Is there an "official" WMUK Credly account and, if so, can I have access to it? Best way to contact me is via m.l.poulter@bris.ac.uk . Cheers, MartinPoulter (talk) 17:36, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
