Article Title: Climate change and sexual and reproductive health and rights in Africa
Article Evaluation: The topic that the article focuses on has so much potential to be more specific than it is currently. I found that while it currently has a lot of information that pertains to the gender crisis in Africa as it relates to the environmental changes, there is no specific cases or in depth explanation for the political nuances. The article briefly mentions that something is happening in parts of Africa but does not have a separate section for it. Everything at the moment is very surface level. This does make the article easier to read but the reader can not fully comprehend the dire situation. Additionally there is no potential solutions page or a historical timeline of what activists and politicians have done to further sexual and reproductive health and rights in Africa.Other than the content itself, which I think is easily fixable if researchers can add more to the page, the citations and format is clear.

Option 2

[edit]
Article title: Climate change and gender
Article Evaluation: What I like most about this article is that regardless of the broad topic area, there are so many subtopics that are covered. Specifically I appreciate the case studies section. It focuses on individual countries, a large fraction of which is in Africa. Furthermore there is sufficient information that covers policies and regulations that have helped mitigate the harms in these specific nation states. All the claims also have a clear citation that leads the readers to a trustworthy source. However, one of the things that needs to be addressed, which is correctly pointed out in the article’s talk page, is the intersection of women’s rights and those of other gendered minorities. The problem is that the article title implies that there will be coverage on queer issues but it does not.

Option 3

Article title: Climate change in Africa
Article Evaluation: This article has a fully comprehensive viewpoint on the overall climate change in Africa. There is an overload of information. However it is executed in a way that has a clear topic divide and makes it easily navigable. Despite having a lot of clear sources and definitive information about the state of Africa as it relates to growing climate concerns, it does not have a specific section on the impact on women and gendered minorities. The words “women” and “gender” are only mentioned one time each. I believe this is a large oversight in this page as the climate crisis has had one of the largest impacts on these bodies. This page already has a subtopic titled “the impact on people”, which means that this would be the most logical part to add information about specific demographics.

Option 4

[edit]
Article title: Women in climate change
Article Evaluation: This is definitely more on the cluttered and unorganized side of wikipedia pages. While I do believe it has good information backed up by clear citations, the list of women climate researchers is hard to navigate. Just listing women and not having clear demarcations or organization by specific research topics, makes readers feel overwhelmed. What I would like to do is take the researchers who have done work relating to Africa and create a subtopic about them. It would highlight each of their works as it relates to either policymaking, direct environmental concerns, agricultural consequences, and reproductive rights. That way it can better take on Wikiedpeia’s equity gaps.

Option 5

[edit]
Article title: Women in Africa
Article Evaluation: Within this article there are minimal references to the environment. But there is a brief sentence that reads that women have had strong ties to environmental influences within the continent. I think it would be a shame to only briefly mention such a large part of history. The strength of this article is that it is already organized by countries which means that it would be far easier to add specific case studies about women in respective countries and how they have changed the environment for the better. For the writing itself there are some phrases that are weak and suggest that the facts backed by the evidence could or could not be true. These make the article appear less professional and needs to be changed.
