User:Cavanaughs
Hello, and welcome to my page!
I live in New Jersey and graduated college in May 2023 with a political science major. I am a NASCAR and Philly sports fan. I also like to follow events/happenings in my town, and I read my town's newspaper and watch my district's Board of Education meetings on YouTube.
Having read Wikipedia for many years growing up, plus taking a journalism elective in High School, it felt like a nice idea to start editing pages on Wikipedia where my help would be valued and appreciated. I started editing in July 2019 and I look forward to continuing to contribute as often as I can. I mostly edit NASCAR articles but also edit articles relating to government and politics (such as elections, lists of politicians in a certain office, as well as school districts in New Jersey). I made my 10,000th edit in June 2022!
Feel free to let me know your thoughts on any edits I make on my talk page. You can track my edits here.
Thank you so much, and have a great day!
Quick notes from me
[edit]Birthday message (for July 7)
[edit]I will keep this message up for around a week after the 7th so people can read it if they didn't see it on the 7th. This is essentially the same message that I've posted each of the past 4 years for my birthday.
I don't really post any "fun" stuff on my user page like many others do, but I will on this day, July 7th, because it is my birthday! I am turning 23, so I was born in 2001.
Yes, that means I happen to be born on a pretty cool day in NASCAR history: Dale Jr. used "lessons learned from his father to go from sixth to first to score the victory in the Pepsi 400" at Daytona on this day 21 years ago! I was actually probably born during that Daytona July race in 2001, because I believe I was born around 8:30 PM Pacific time which is 11:30 PM EST. That's because my family and I lived in Arizona when I was a toddler and we moved to New Jersey in 2005.
Also on this day 5 years ago (July 7th, 2019), Justin Haley pulled off one of the biggest upset wins in NASCAR history (I love a good underdog win and whenever there's a chance one can happen, I hope for it!) in the final 4th of July weekend race at Daytona. I didn't get to see all of the race, because my family and I were in a 2 hour car ride returning home to Central Jersey from the Jersey Shore (Long Beach Island) after our yearly 4th of July vacation there (we didn't do it in 2020 due to COVID). I checked my phone in the car and saw on the NASCAR.com leaderboard that Haley was in the lead during in the rain/lightning delay and was happy when I checked again a little later and found out that him winning was the outcome!
On this day 6 years ago (July 7th, 2018), Erik Jones won his first Cup race in that year's Coke Zero 400. I remember watching that 2018 race from LBI and enjoying it a lot because there were a lot of big wrecks and all of the usual winners/top drivers had crashed out of the race in the big one. It was time for a new winner, particularly a first time or upset/underdog winner, in the year of "the big three" (Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr.) and it happened! The other notable race that happened on July 7th was the 2007 Daytona July race, when Jamie McMurray beat Kyle Busch in a photo finish at the line. I just barely missed this race, though, as I didn't become a NASCAR fan until 2008.
I share a birthday with DeLana Harvick (born on July 7, 1973), Landon Cassill (born on July 7, 1989) and Mason Maggio (born July 7, 2004). Also, with so many young drivers in the Xfinity, Truck, and ARCA Series that were born in the 2000's decade, I wondered who was the closest driver to being born on July 7, 2001, and after searching on Racing-Reference, the answer appears to be Raphaël Lessard on July 5, 2001, who's just two days older than me. The next closest is Hailie Deegan on July 18, 2001, and she is eleven days younger than me.

---|---|
2020 ARCA Menards Series | The first version which was published but then moved to become a draft but later recreated by User:Willsome429... credit to him! |
Draft:Chuck Buchanan Jr. | Another user created this article in 2018, but it was later deleted due to lack of sources. I added the article back as a draft after its deletion and am trying to get it back into mainspace. |
Draft:Connor Hall | This article was originally in mainspace before it was nominated for deletion. It then became a draft and will be for the time being, but hopefully it will be back in mainspace at some point. |
Draft:Sioux Chief Showdown | Needs more info and sources before going into mainspace. Others are more than welcome to help me out and edit this draft! |
Brandon Lynn | Previous articles I created, but which were deleted. You can see what they looked like on Web Archive by typing in their names in the URL. (I did not add them back as drafts because these two drivers are not competing right now because they have been without a ride for at least a year.) |
Eddie Fatscher | |
Draft:List of NASCAR on ESPN broadcasters | These articles were previously in mainspace before moving to draftspace due to lack of sources. Hopefully they'll all be back in mainspace soon. |
