Boinka, Victoria

[edit]

The following is cut and paste from my user talk page so as to maintain the discussion at a central point - please note that in terms of this template I am using systems and logic developed with regards Template:Riverina as posted on that talk page.... --VS talk 21:26, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I thought this article a probable hoax.. but I guess it's not.
  • However - I would not include it in the "Cities and towns in The Mallee and Sunraysia regions of Australia" template as a town. At best it is a village, but more likely it is a locality within Mildura. I think the same could be said for other placenames included on the template where the population is X(within 7km radius).
Hi GarrieIrons - thanks for your comments. As you would have seen Boinka was not a hoax - in fact it has a rich history. (Actually I was quite happy with the article and its rich start). I take your point on not including it as a town - but if you have a look at the article again you will see that I had not done so - referring to it only as a locality and it is (again as is already posted on that page not within Mildura (it is 174km from that City). To the point of whether localities should or should not be included .... We had the same discussion when constructing Template:Riverina with the consensus agreeing to include localities/communities as a part of the template providing that such a place met strict guidelines (including that the location/community was actually still physically locatable in some way) - see here for details of that discussion. However I realise that by not including the word communities in the template that might not seem so clear so I have adjusted that part this morning at Template:Sunraysia. Finally to your point about www.travelmate.com.au - the link actually goes directly to a search page (a map is not being suggested - only distances are) where any person can type place A and place B to see the distances between the two locations. The alternate - given that there are at least 4 locations being referenced is to make the info box totally unworkable). Cheers. --VS talk 21:20, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
