2006 thread

[edit]

Czechia My bad; I thought this was a template I created for the purpose of displaying "Czechia" (similar to ones that say "Timor-Leste," "Republic of China (Taiwan)," "Viet Nam," etc.) I didn't realize that this is the "official" one that obeys the standards. My apologies. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 19:44, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No harm done at all. :)Nightstallion (?) 08:53, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, io:User:Joao Xavier (also oc:Utilizaire:Joao Xavier)

Czechia now?

[edit]

My understanding was that the official short form according to the ISO has changed to "Czechia". Should this template reflect that update? Q·L·1968 22:26, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@JFG: This change has affected the entire Wikipedia, and I don't see it sufficiently discussed anywhere, or even mentioned at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Czech Republic. The "Czechia" title is controversial, and I find it jarring, and I suppose many people would. Please revert that change and let us open a broader discussion; we shouldn't change a country name Wikipedia-wide just based on ISO changing their mind, apparently pushed by the country itself.
