- @Jeraxmoira, the whole article confirms very closely with the prose-line anti-pattern. It would be nice to fix that issue before this hits the main page. (not particularly required for DYK) Sohom (talk) 03:38, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

- In my personal opinion, these hooks don't meet WP:DYKINT - ALT0 is basically "a cinematographer drew inspiration from people" combined with the seemingly unrelated "a cinematographer likes not using studios", ALT1 is "Cinematographer uses time-authentic film" and ALT2 is "Cinematographer got a degree, moved to Asia from LA for jobs". Feel free to disagree, up to the promoter DimensionalFusion (talk ▪ she/her) 10:09, 20 September 2024 (UTC)
- I agree. @Jeraxmoira: Please propose another ALT.--Launchballer 15:46, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- I partially agree with you. But, I find Alt1 interesting because, AFAIK no one has used 16mm film to recreate the look of 1980s South Indian cinema, especially considering it was done by a cinematographer who is not based in India. An alternative to Alt1 could be -
- ALT1a: ... that Dani Sanchez-Lopez, a Los Angeles-based cinematographer, recreated the essence of 1980s Indian cinema in the critically acclaimed film Mahanati by partly shooting with super 16mm film stock?
- ALT1b: ... that Dani Sanchez-Lopez, a Los Angeles-based cinematographer, partly used super 16mm film stock to capture the look of 1980s Indian cinema in the critically acclaimed film Mahanati?
- User:Launchballer, let me know if any of these work. Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 20:36, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Jeraxmoira: Sorry for the delay. Both of the proposed ALTs have the same problem.--Launchballer 10:52, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Jeraxmoira: This is around two months old so is liable to be timed out. I should have responded immediately above so can give you a bit longer, but I'd like to see a hook that is unusual or intriguing by readers with no special knowledge or interest fairly quickly.--Launchballer 10:09, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Launchballer: sorry, I must have missed your ping earlier. Here are two alternatives that do not require any special knowledge in this field.
- ALT3: ... that Dani Sanchez-Lopez wanted to be an actor but switched to cinematography after realizing actors deliver others' lines, leading him to work on India's acclaimed films Mahanati and Virata Parvam?Source 1
- ALT4: ... that Dani Sanchez-Lopez directed a music video for the Pakistani band Noori, which earned a Hum Awards nomination, before gaining recognition in Indian cinema with his work on Mahanati?
- I am more inclined to Alt3, but if you feel it doesn’t cut it, then rejection is the way forward I guess.Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 11:45, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- I agree that ALT3 is more interesting. I don't see where it is in the article though.--Launchballer 11:48, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- If this is to run, then it might be better to trim ALT3 and go with: ALT3a ... that Dani Sanchez-Lopez wanted to be an actor but switched to cinematography after realizing actors deliver others' lines? Having said that, this nomination is now two months old and has timed out; I will leave the decision on whether or not to accept that angle, or to close the nomination, to another editor. - I have added the line and source in the first paragraph. ALT3a is more precise and interesting. W.r.t the time out, I hope this is considered as we just got an interesting hook! Cheers Jeraxmoira🐉 (talk) 12:06, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
