Citations

[edit]

If you can't find those citations (which I cannot) as far as I can tell Mysian Olympus does not appear in Homer, or Hesiod either, but does appear in Herodotus I.36 as a place from which a great boar comes and in Xenophon's Memorabilia as a place of wild animals. I do not think the place in mentioned in Homer nor do I think the gods watched the battle from there but if you find some later ancient author who says it is so by all means put it in. For the presence of monasteries in the late empire I for one would like to see a citation on that one.Dave 15:17, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

I temporarily removed this statement:

"It lies 40 km from the northwest to the southeast of the Marmara Region"

But only because its meaning is unclear in English and I do not know how to correct it. In English it would mean a mountain 40 km long aligned in the specified direction, but I doubt that. Do you mean it is 40km to the SE of Marmora? In that case it would be a candidate for the Mount Teleia mentioned in the Catalog of Trojans. If you could clarify that I am sure we all would appreciate it. Thank you.Dave 15:24, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
