Notability

[edit]

This article is not notable i.e. is WP:NOTEWORTHY and WP:SPIP to me. Mattjs (talk)

In my opinion, the article does pass the WP:GNG standard; in particular the subject is widely cited in popular and non-deprecated sources. @Mattjs does draw attention to aspects of the article which could be improved, though. The subject is, in effect, a form of entrepreneur whose opinion is often sought by the mainstream media. He is a founding figure at Oxford University's Future of Humanity Institute and is generally regarded as a senior figure in the Effective Altruism movement. Together these things help the article over the line set by the relevant WP policies. However, the subject is not quite notable as a scholar per se. This, and the fact that the article at time appears close to promotion (I do not suggest self-promotion) indicates that the article needs improving. I have removed a reference to the subject's wife being a member of an organisation the subject founded as it is not relevant. Other editors might want to improve further. I agree, the subject is rather borderline but worth keeping. It does read like a CV though. --Ef80 (talk) 20:08, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
